In a blistering CPAC speech following Hillsdale College President Dr. Larry Arnn, the Independent Women's Forum's Sabrina Schaeffer, and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, American Conservative Union (ACU) Executive Director Dan Schneider attacked the alt-right, claiming that those who identify with that term today have hijacked it for a philosophy fundamentally at odds with conservatism.
"Just a few years ago, this hate-filled left-wing fascist group hijacked the very term 'alt-right,'" Schneider declared. "They did it intentionally because they want to deceive the media, they want to deceive you all about what they stand for, so they can try to become normalized, and we must not allow them to be normalized. They are not part of us!"

Schneider laid out his personal philosophy in a brief statement, defining conservatism as "the political philosophy that sovereignty resides in the person."
That is rather thin gruel. Seems to ignore major conservative thinkers like Burke.
Hijacked? How about created it?
To me, alt right is conservatism minus neo-con globalism. Obviously there is no definition that works in all instances for any of the terms of conservatism or neo-con or globalism. Trumpism is my kind of conservatism as an old Pat Buchananite person. I like Washington on guns, Lincoln on Trade, Taft on regulation and Reagan on taxes. Trump is better than them all, on each. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
That term has little meaning to me when it appears no one knows what it truly covers.
You know, it makes me wonder if a single one of these idiots even knows what the “Alt-Right” is.
Of course, they’re all representatives of garden variety conservatism, which has signally failed to conserve anything - a record of failure going all the way back to the time of Taft and before.
So honestly, I’m not really inclined to listen to a pack of establishment idiots who are shilling for a failed ideology by misrepresenting its increasingly successful competitor.

It is a useless term because it means such strikingly different things to different people. Should just be dropped and a new phrase developed that refers to positive side of its meaning.
The Establishment “RINO” contingency deposits it’s tentacles into CPAC. This goofy speech is just one example of a meaningless distraction— fighting over defining a recent label from nowhere. Laughable.
