Egypt's Antiquities Ministry announced this morning that a team of underwater archaeologists had discovered that remains of a large Egyptian army from the 14th century BC, at the bottom of the Gulf of Suez, 1.5 kilometers offshore from the modern city of Ras Gharib. The team was searching for the remains of ancient ships and artifacts related to Stone Age and Bronze Age trade in the Red Sea area, when they stumbled upon a gigantic mass of human bones darkened by age.
The scientists lead by Professor Abdel Muhammad Gader and associated with Cairo University's Faculty of Archaeology, have already recovered a total of more than 400 different skeletons, as well as hundreds of weapons and pieces of armor, also the remains of two war chariots, scattered over an area of approximately 200 square meters. They estimate that more than 5000 other bodies could be dispersed over a wider area, suggesting that an army of large size who have perished on the site.

The big issue with that is sea water destroys bones. Ever wonder why they have found no bodies at the titanic site, which was first examined in around 75 years after it went down? they found lots of leather shoes, which were preserved but the bodies and bones were gone.
Yep. Here come the Ron Wyatt and Michael Rood kooks!
Don’t really care at this point. Any such real ‘discovery’ will be tested over time.
What I defend is the biblical account.
I detest the portrayal by Cecil B. Demille’s film as if it was some sort of supernatural event. Not because it wasn’t accurate, but because it wasn’t supported by any presentation of geographical evidence.
Scripture does not describe the parting of the Red Sea as some sort of out-of-this-world sensational spectacle. It describes it as a miracle.
A combination of Scripture and evidence point to a Gulf of Agaba of several thousand feet of depth but transiently changed by sand tides caused by strong undercurrents. Those sand bars can erase a lot of depth of the Gulf, but whether such sand bars emerged at sea level, no one knows. But the changes are transient. The ‘average’ depth is deep, that much is known.
We know from Scripture that the Children of Israel were frightened and that Moses held his hands up to calm them down. The view of the approaching Egyptian Army gave no choice but to walk into the sea.
If the access point led a couple of miles to the other side, that would have been viewable. If sand tides had pushed a series of sand bars into view that was seen to connect to the other side, then it makes sense that the Children of Israel walked on the bars or shallow water braving the currents that could wash them away at any moment, and reach the other side.
By the time the Egyptian Army decided to pursue into the sea on the same sand bars, the currents overcame them causing them to stumble and horses to buck, and the army was overwhelmed in the timing.
I don’t see it as a grand sensational sea parting as depicted in Demille’s film. I see as a combination of timing and a rare event of shallow water caused by shifting sand drifts under the surface that may have breached the surface.
Was it a miracle? I say you can be assured that it was. That kind of timing and rare event at precisely that event in history is miraculous.
they have found bone from that area, which has been confirmed
Snopes whether it gets it right on most issues or not, is a ste that is also used to debunk Conservative ideals by debunking things Conservatives say and believe.
While I appreciate the alternative site reference, I was not under the impression this article was on the up and up.
Comments here and on the site where the article appeared caused me to suspect it was not factual.
In my small mind I find that I can be satisfied with: In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth as it pertains to man...
Who really knows how many worlds and peoples God has created.. We know of at least one other... Angels, right.??

Exodus Decoded is a documentary created by Jewish Canadian filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici, in which new evidence in favor of the historicity of the Biblical Exodus is explored. It is partially narrated by film director James Cameron. Jacobovici suggests that the Exodus took place around 1500 BCE during the reign of pharaoh Ahmose I, and coincided with the eruption of Santorini that most scholars believe ended the Minoan civilization. In the documentary, the plagues that ravished Egypt in the Bible are explained as having resulted from that volcanic eruption, and a related collapse in the Nile river delta. Much of Jacobovici's archaeological evidence for the Exodus comes from Egypt.
The two American adventurers Bob Cornuke and Larry Williams follow mysterious clues to find the true Mt. Sinai. Their discoveries they unveil will shock the world and rewrite history. Centuries of tradition, place this holy mountain in the Sinai peninsula of Egypt. But compelling evidence will show that this hallowed ground, where Moses was told to take the shoes off his feet before the burning bush, may actually be in the barren deserts of northwestern Saudi Arabia. Epic myth becomes burning truth on the Mountain of Fire.

Gonna have to watch this now...
the floor bed is sand- ever walked across water saturated saND? The artifacts were coralized=- look at any coral structures- they aren’t covered in silt or sand- look at ship wrecks on the bottom of oceans- they aren’t buried in sand either- I have no problem believing God miraculously created dry land for His people to walk across- the area was not shallow enough that a ‘strong wind’ could have both parted the sea and dried the water saturated sand instantly- Watch any recovery project on the sea floor where the sand starts to become disturbed- it is very loose and gets stirred up easily- just waving a hand over it will cause it to disperse- it would take a long time to dry it out enough for it to be firm enough that they could walk across on ‘dry land’ as the bible states-
Not everything has a natural explanation- some things are supernatural
Defending the biblical account? I think not. Exodus describes a wall of water on each side, not a sandbar.
Thanks for the link. I actually haven’t seen Ron Wyatt’s version as yet.
Patterns of Evidence was extremely well done.
Along that same theme, I encourage my fellow Freepers to see “Is Genesis History”, another Fathom Events documentary, which shows this Thursday 23 Feb.
As I’ve stated upthread I have no problem with the miraculous nature of this, either, but I see no need to exaggerate the difficulties involved in order to, what, magnify the miracle? Those artifacts have been lying there over 3,000 years on the seabed, they didn’t sink and they’re not covered in sand or silt. I’ve dealt with sandy seabeds before, and am aware that artifacts become buried over hundreds of years, let alone thousands of years. That these have not suggests to me that the seabed is just not that soft or saturated. Stating this does not diminish the miracle of the Red Sea Crossing of Exodus in the least.
.
There is no other version.
This is Rood’s DVD version, and you have to scroll down to the red bar to enter the code to watch it.

Thanks!
[[Exodus describes a wall of water on each side, not a sandbar.]]
Exactly- it was no aNkle deep water that a stiff wind could part- nor a ‘hump of land created from shifting sands’ it was the sea- with walls of water on either side- deep enough to drown the pursuing army-
22 So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. 23 And the Egyptians pursued and went after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaohs horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24 Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that the Lord looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians. 25 And He took off[a] their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.
26 Then the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen. 27 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. So the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28 Then the waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained.
