Dozens fired after skipping work to participate in 'A Day Without Immigrants' protests

As numerous restaurant employees were given leave on Thursday to march in "A Day Without Immigrants" protests, others returned to their posts Friday to discover that they were out of a job.

Across the U.S. employers fired hundreds of protesters who skipped work to participate in rallies.

Anybody who would be stupid enough to try this at my work would be immediately fired

All I noticed was that traffic was lighter without all those rickety lawn maintenance trucks everywhere. Didn’t affect me at all.

Best man I ever worked for told me there were only two acceptable excuses for not coming to work:1. Your seeing eye dog has 4 broken legs. 2. A death in the family...Your's.

Worked us hard...paid us well...generous bonuses for work well done.

It depends. They person has an opportunity to appeal. In my case, the employer's excuse was such BS that they didn't even bother to show up for the hearing. It didn't take but one day later to issue a decision in my favor.

Basically, the crooked employer was looking for an excuse to steal my accumulated vacation. The "reason" they cited was unbelievable BS.
