I LOVE Bessie Smith!
I had dozens of vinyl records that were remastered from her 78s.
Back when I had records.

I’ve noticed that my allergies are ramping up too, and we don’t have anything blooming yet. We have daffodils and tulips coming up but they haven’t gotten blooms on them yet. But every time the wind blows from the north where they grow cotton, I stop up. Ugh! I hope you and your kitty get some relief from the allergies soon! Do both of you take something?
Glad she’s better and has gotten over her hyper mode! LOL!

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
COLE PORTER
KISS ME, KATE
DIAHANN CARROLL: WHY CANT YOU BEHAVE? One does not ordinarily think of Diahann as a singer thanks to her acting chops.
In this recording from the Fifties, she is backed by Andre Previns trio. Previn was a major figure in jazz, movie and TV music in those days. He would later become one of the great orchestra conductors, and his 1973 recording of the uncut, original version of Rachmaninovs Second Symphony with the London Symphony Orchestra would stand as one of the indisputably great recordings of the Seventies.
This is something between the blues and jazz. Thats Andre at the piano giving her superb punctuation.

Is the grass growing yet? It pollinates like crazy. So do weeds. And pollen from other areas does get carried by wind.
We’ve gotten wind out of the south quite a bit and things down there are ahead of ours so we’re getting some of that pollen.
It’s that time of year. *sigh*
I don’t take any kind of allergy meds. Just use nose spray so I can breathe.
Not anything I can give Jade but I have the little vaporizer now and that helps her.
I’m glad Lessa calmed down. I was getting worried she was going to break her stitches. This is the first time one of our cats has gotten a pain shot and I’m going to make sure no more get one. It’s the only way to keep them calm when they need to be.

I have a tiny pest demanding attention and he’s been quite the distraction. Pippin has turned into a mom’s boy, big time. Peregrin finally woke up and now Pippin’s playing with him. WHEW!
But it was too late for the 50. LOL

Ours hasn’t yet. We have St. Augustine and it doesn’t have as many allergins as, say, Burmuda. That stuff gives me fits and I’m thankful we got rid of it. There is an early spring weed that grows like...well...a weed, called London Rocket [a mustard plant—who knew!] and it is nearly as bad as ragweed!
Y’all have WAY more flowering plants than we do. Lots of the beautiful things y’all grow won’t grow in this extreme dry heat. I’d love to move. LOL!

HOWARD KEEL & KATHRYN GRAYSON: WUNDERBAR Cole Porter unashamedly wrote a waltz, something that was rapidly disappearing from American dance. The word is German for wonderful. This clip is from the 1953 MGM musical, and thats Andre Previn conducting the orchestra.
