It is, of course, bizarre to watch this principle now so widely celebrated. Over the last eight years, President Obama implemented the most vindictive and aggressive war on whistleblowers in all of U.S. history. As Leonard Downie, one of the editors at the Washington Post during the Watergate investigation, put it in a special report: The [Obama] administrations war on leaks and other efforts to control information are the most aggressive Ive seen since the Nixon administration.
Its hard to put into words how strange it is to watch the very same people from both parties, across the ideological spectrum who called for the heads of Edward Snowden, Chelsea Manning, Tom Drake, and so many other Obama-era leakers today heap praise on those who leaked the highly sensitive, classified SIGINT information that brought down Gen. Flynn.
Its even more surreal to watch Democrats act as though lying to the public is some grave firing offense when President Obamas top national security official, James Clapper, got caught red-handed not only lying to the public but also to Congress about a domestic surveillance program that courts ruled was illegal. And despite the fact that lying to Congress is a felony, he kept his job until the very last day of the Obama presidency.
But this is how political power and the addled partisan brain in D.C. functions. Those in power always regard leaks as a heinous crime, while those out of power regard them as a noble act. They seamlessly shift sides as their position in D.C. changes.

Michael Flynn May Want to Call the ACLU

The fascist alt-left considers all felonies as being “justified”. They’re just a bunch of lawless commie thugs.
Empty cells in Gitmo waiting.
Although the author makes some good points - he repeats this lie and propaganda several times. NO ONE has any idea what Flynn and the Russian Ambassador spoke about. Flynn did not lie to the public (nothing about it was ever public) and It was NOT illegal for Flynn to have a conservation with the Ambassador. This Logan Act nonsense is simply a red-herring.
If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime. If you get caught, motivation is not important. What is important is that too many high level people get by with blatant criminal activity - HRC being one.
Where are the Awan Brothers?
Who killed Seth Rich?
Where is Eric Braverman?
Who was spotting the weights for John Ashe?
Who leaked on Flynn?
Flynn's sin was lying to Pence when asked if he made the calls and what was discussed - presumably because Flynn never suspected that his conversation would be recorded and leaked.
But I fail to see how the greater public good was served by this leak, or by removing Flynn.
Therefore I disagree with the premise of the article.
He’s a loon, Chelsea Mannings guy.
The good General will have to say his name is Mohammed Al-Flynn to get help from them.
I disagree with it as well, except for the part that I excerpted. He makes a good point there.
Yes, I agree. Unless/until we see the transcripts we do not know what was discussed.
I agree. Leaking Flynn’s conversations was vindictive and with malice, as the conversation itself was not illegal.
Leaking it had only one motive, and it wasn’t for the public good.
Greenwald is schitzophrenic. In one column, he calls out the Deep State and the dangers it poses. In the next, he praises Deep State-sourced leaks that took out a prominent critic of such.
I figure Trump had second thoughts about Flynn or he would have doubled down on him and said he wasn't going anywhere.
If Flynn didn't tell Pence and/or Trump everything he had been talking about you can bet your bottom dollar he also didn't tell them about everyone he'd been talking to including people in Congress he shouldn't have been letting in on what the administration is thinking and planning.
Draw your own conclusions but you should consider the possibility that there's a lot more to this Flynn situation than the leftist cheerleaders are cheering about and the Trump supporters worrying about Trump caving in to the deep state are worried about.
The leaks are a different matter, though, and whoever leaked should be prosecuted. If anyone was genuinely concerned they should have followed the chain of command and sent the transcripts to Trump asking if he was aware of the conversations.
Since they weren't handled that way it gives Trump more leverage with Congress for reigning in and reducing the size of the band of merry thugs in the Intelligence community.
JMHo
ah yeah, the gestapo could also use feloniously selective enforcement. We know most of the collaborators were doing good business on the black market, and the gestapo encouraged that as it made for good informants
He fascist liberal snitches operate on the same debauchery basis
Hannity was talking about this a few minutes ago. He talked about how if a U.S. citizen was accidentally being listened to by a U.S. Agency, that the Agency was to drop coverage as soon as it was recognized that a U.S. citizen was being listened to, and that there were strong penalties for violating the rules. He gave some U.S. Government codes, but I didn’t write them down.
Per Trump, Flynn was fired for not giving all the facts to Pence, and then not being able to produce those details later.
