It has been a day of turmoil for President Trump, who after finding himself on the defensive following Monday's resignation by Mike Flynn (which may or may not lead to legal charges) and allegedly getting snubbed by Vladimir Putin, now has another potential crisis on his hands: according to both the FT and CBS, Trump's pick for National Security Advisor, Robert Harward - a senior executive at Lockheed Martin - has turned down the President's offer, citing "obvious dysfunctionality" in the administration.
According to the FT, it is not yet a complete rejection as "Trump is trying to convince his preferred candidate to succeed Michael Flynn as national security adviser to change his mind after the retired admiral tapped for the role told the US president that he could not accept the White House position."

No, he's a mush. A globallllistze. "acceptable to all". Be glad to see him go...
Ummm, folks, the guy works for Lockheed-Martin. It’s possible Trump’s Twitter attack on Lockheed for it’s “out-of-control costs” in a tweet made some enemies at Lockheed. Not to mention all the faithful Lockheed Investors who lost money as the stock slumped. Some options traders lost their shirt on that day, thanks to Trump.
I’m all for what Trump has been doing, but sometimes his mouthing off on Twitter is careless and could be done more diplomatically.
For example tweeting his opinion that “the pharmacy companies are getting away with MURDER” was truly careless and non-productive!! Thousands of investors in Biotech lost tons of money because of Trump’s tweet. That doesn’t enamor people to Trump.
Instead, he could have tweeted something more benign but to the point: “Some say drug pricing is way too high, so we have to evaluate options on how to lower drug prices.”
Trump needs to consider the ramifications of his careless tweets and in this case, it’s likely that this is part of the reason Robert Harward is backing out.
Come on you two, you are both good Freepers. Cut it out.
DON’T MAKE ME COME BACK THERE!
No, Trump need to keep doing exactly what he’s doing. No more profits regardless of consequences. Those days are coming to an end regardless of who you or anyone else is invested with.
Intelligence is hardly a unanimous product
There should be different perspectives and different backgrounds all brought together to give the POTUS and his advisor their best estimates and then let Trump chooses his best course of action
Dissent among Intel staffers is not a bad thing - is actually a good thing
to let one guy dominate all the assessments with his own team - not good
It’s not a SEAL team, it’s a collective advisory staff with one boss who reports to one boss and he should be able to handle working with a deputy who is coming at things with a different world view
If not buh bye
Too late. I think dragnet hurt himself there in post 139. I hope he’s all right.
I think he got hamstrung by Pence and had to choose
He chose Pence
I don’t think the VP should be getting between the POTUS and his national security advisor
Never going to run smoothly if the NSA has 2 different bosses
I was concerned he’d had Bush affiliations. I let that go, because of the trust Mattis has in him.
Considering that they are replacing SUSAN RICE I think they can take time to get it right
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Why was this even announced if Mr. Harward was uninterested in the job?
You know, the guy he needs is probably some genius 28yo vegetarian with tats but no political acumen or desire.
Could be LM pressured Harward to entertain it after Maddog asked if he could come up for an interview. If this guy really wanted it, and wanted to make a difference, he’d override his wife, or make arrangements.
I’m leaning he was just helping with leaks. And I don’t think Petraeus or Kellogg are the real candidates, either. Someone we haven’t been introduced to, yet.
Yeah, WTF were her qualifications to be NSA?
She played college basketball ?
Bald face lying bitch!
Zero Hedge’s tone sounds very anti-Trump.
When did they turn against him?
How rude. You have no idea what you are even saying.
Oh, come on! He had a great news conference today.
Here is the entire comment 8>):
there has been a delay in filling the position
It was filled, and would still be filled if dirty pool was not being played. In addition that dirty pool is being played illegally. They are leaking number 1 which is illegal. They had to have tapped the phones of either the Russians or Flynn. If it was Flynn that had to have been okayed by FISA. If they didn't have that, then that too is illegal. Bottom line thought is the snarky reason given, if he did indeed give that as the excuse.
The last person I am going to blame for this is Trump.
Zero Hedge has many authors all posting as Tyler Durdin. Some will be pro-Trump, some anti-Trump, some neutral.
Yes, they are. When Obama did his last-minute stunt of letting all 17 agencies access the NSA data, including content, he made this almost impossible to stop. They can be switching from one to the other constantly so it will be almost impossible to find them and impossible to ever get them all. Am I right, clandestine experts, or just writing a spy novel here?
