Taking a walk on the wild side, I happened upon MSNBCs "Morning Joe" during my morning drive. Not my first choice in news, but my other favorite radio stations were on commercial break. Senator Bob Corker was being interviewed over the Michael Flynn resignation.
Senator Corker asserted, The base issue is getting to the bottom of what the Russian interference was and what the relationship was with associates of the Trump effort. The proverbial elephant in the room as the senator described it.
He also wondered if the White House would have the ability to, stabilize itself. He went further talking about the American people counting on us to do big things this year. He did briefly mention intelligence leaks, as a subissue that needs to be dealt with using his words. But then reiterated that Russian involvement was the big issue.
Where to start?
How about President Obamas admonition to Donald Trump last October, when Mrs. Clinton was on her way to a landslide electoral victory and Mr. Trump was headed back to reality TV. Trump claimed that the election was rigged against him. Obama advised Trump, "Stop whining and go try to make his case to get votes." Which he did. Going further, Mr. Obama added that there was, "no serious person" who would suggest it was possible to rig American elections. I presume this statement included the Russians.
Yet to Senator Corker, there is still concern that Russia hacked the election. Despite the U.S. intelligence community finding that the Russians, were not involved in vote tallying. Did the Russians try to meddle, influence, propagandize? Sure. Whats new about that?

How can my adopted home state get it right on so many things and yet keep reelecting Corker?
The big issue, the 800 pound gorilla in the room, is the ongoing attempted coup by elements of the intel community and the “deep state”.
Bob Corker is a moron.
The presstitutes like Corker because he runs off uncontrollaby at the mouth.
Weak SISTERS!! These Republicans have NO SPINE, NO FIGHT, SLOW-WITTED, SLOW FOOTED....what do we need Democrats for?
Too many older people that will keep voting for him no matter what. They don’t know his policies or where he stands on the issues. I guess at 62 I’m one of those older people but I am capable of thinking for myself. Corker is a snake. So is Alexander. Some people don’t like change though, especially in this area near Chattanooga. Corker is well known there and people will just keep pulling for the name they know rather than give somebody new a chance.
For many the elephant in the room is that then private citizens were subject to unauthorized spying during the Obama administration.
You left off Haslem
and the fact the intelligence community has lied to courts, congress, and the american people for the last 8 years regarding what they record regarding phone calls and electronic devices
Haslam too. It’s crazy but it seems our Democrat politicians are more conservative than the Republicans at times.
I’m 74 and entirely agree. I voted against him in the primary and will do so again.
We needed Corker the first time. Needed the W. Harold Ford was an attractive Democrat. Now just try to get rid of him. Good luck with that one!
He’s a RINO and has never done anything for my area which includes the Tennessee side of Fort Campbell KY, which is in our county. Lamar Alexander is the other RINO
Both are RINOs and my senators also
Corker has been reelected only once, in 2012. He did not face a serious (or even half-serious) primary challenger so there was zero chance he would not be returned.
He’s up again in 2018.
“Corker is well known there and people will just keep pulling for the name they know rather than give somebody new a chance.”
That is exactly how we end up with McCain and Graham election after election. BTW, congrats in TN for the bill to allow running over rioters.
Two big problems.
One: Open Primaries. Since Dems no longer are competitive in statewide races, they can select the most left-wing candidate on the GOP side (along with the party establishment voters).
Two: No runoffs. The most left-leaning RINO can snatch the nomination with a mere plurality. 60% vote for Conservative candidates ? 70% ? No problem.
Conservatives wanted former Congressman Ed Bryant in 2002 (against Lamar!, who flooded the race with big $$ and Dubya/Rove Establishment support) and again in 2006 (against Corker, who eked out a plurality when the Establishment persuaded an ex-Congressman Van Hilleary to split the vote with Bryant).
A nice little racket for the RINOs in Tennessee. They also have a flaky left-winger RINO as Governor, too (who refused to vote for or support Trump). A real prince.
The real elephant in the room is the GOP itself, sitting on its hands, refusing to do its job and wanting Trump to fail big time so they can go back to being the subservient party once again.
Corker is a corker.
Too many of them only achieved office because the Deep State has "the goods" on them, and can manipulate them as desired. Trump will never be able to rely on them as allies in any conflict with the Deep State.
