Reports are surfacing about a potential national strike by immigrants this weekthe latest in a growing movement to highlight the role immigrants play in the face of Donald Trumps increasingly harsh crackdown.
According to Washingtonian magazine, a number of local restaurants and other businesses have begun bracing for a national strike on February 16, in which immigrantsparticularly those from Latinx communitieshave been urged to stay home from work. The grassroots protest has seemingly been organized by word of mouth and across Latinx social media channels.
One of our delivery men whos Latino told our kitchen about it, and then it started spreading from there, Rose Previte, owner of DCs Compass Rose restaurant, told Washingtonian. In the kitchen, all but the chef and one line cook are immigrants and asked if they could participate. My staff was like, We feel this is something we have to do. They felt really strongly about it. I was like, Okay, absolutely.

Notice how they conflate legal and illegal immigrants?
It is very deliberate.
Is there any separation between legal immigrants and illegal aliens in this "strike?"
So ICE could pick up half of them at the Spanish language bar. Nice.
I fully support this movement. In fact, I would encourage a week without immigrants. Maybe even a full year to get started.
Does this mean someone won’t spit in my food order?, because I’m ok with that...
Great. If you’re illegal, stay away.
How about we start our own day? A day without paying you a red cent for your anchors day! Imagine that! No “free” lunch, no “free” roof over their heads, no “free” healthcare,” no “free” education. Tell me, who benefits more?
I will call it ‘a day without horrible drivers causing near-wrecks everywhere with their junk vehicles and overloaded trailers.’
Or a day without dirty diapers being tossed into the WalMart parking lot.
Hey, I might even be able to return to shopping at WalMart for a day.
This will be a great day. Remember when Trump or any other Republican could not win without the Hispanic vote? Well he didn’t get it and won anyway. When the nitwits shutdown their shops and stop washing cars for a day they will only prove we don’t really need them and it will hurt them in the long run.
The roadways of my entire state are a trash receptacle for Mexicans, but it is mostly the dirty diapers that line the roads that really steam me.
This is no country for Neolithic throwbacks.
Excrete them all from our sacred Homeland!
Let’s make it EVERYDAY without ILLEGAL immigrants DAY!
“A Day Without Full Emergency Rooms For Minor Injuries”
“A Day Without Hit-And-Run Accidents”
“A Day Without Three Dozen People Wandering Around The Home Depot Parking Lot, Or In Those Places Where Wandering Around The Home Depot Parking Lot Has Been Prohibited, A Day Without Three Dozen People Wandering Around Across The Street From Home Depot Like They’re The Worst Undercover Cops Ever”
“A Day Without Getting The Simplest Order Wrong At A Restaurant Because They’re Illiterate In Their Own Language Too”
“A Day With 40% Less Drunk Drivers On The Road”
YAY!!!!!
A day without Somali drivers F-IN up the traffic here in minnesotastan!!!!
Well, time to don my field clothes. Looks like I’ll be picking my own lettuce, mowing my own lawn, washing me own car, and keeping my own hovel clean.
I do all of these things anyway but the thought that others will be doing without troubles me.
Oh, and can’t forget my own laundry. It’ll be a normal day.
If the wetbacks would expand the scope of this ‘day’ to include staying indoors and completely out of sight, it would serve as a good reminder of what America used to look like.
Mexicans are very good at building walls. I’m in Los Cabo’s this week and you should see all the new construction.
