Washington (CNN)Embattled White House national security adviser Michael Flynn resigned Monday night, two sources tell CNN. His departure came just after reports surfaced the Justice Department warned the Trump administration last month that Flynn misled administration officials regarding his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States and was potentially vulnerable to blackmail by the Russians.

Yup. People make honest mistakes. Lie are deliberate.
Apparently he either lied that he told the VP about this discussion, or he lied when he spoke to the VP. At least that is what I think I heard about the gist of the issue.
When Democrats speak with foreign leaders when a Republican is in office, it is not the same thing as when a prospective Republican employee speaks with a foreign leader before his boss is actually in office. Nobody expects the opposition to be speaking on behalf of the sitting President. But Flynn could have/may have compromised the President before he was even sworn in.
He loses control and sustains a distraction by having a national security advisor who lies about unauthorized contacts with foreign entities. This is the right move for all concerned and Flynn will be an afterthought within a short time. Open YOUR eyes!
Interesting take on using every means, including Iran, to quickly crush ISIS without US boots on ground. If this was going to be the policy, Flynn was on the wrong side.

Here is an interesting perspective from Gordon Chang, who says Flynn was part of the recent China groveling (not his word) and so he is glad to see Flynn gone:
The story I read is that SOS Rex Tillerson convinced the POTUS to support the “one China policy”.
Dennis Kusinich, just on with Maria Bartiromo, on Fox Business, warned that what is happening is very serious and it’s coming from the Intelligence community. He speculates that IC is trying to undermine and harm President Trump and the administration. Coup?
Candidate Obama went to Iraq and discussed troop withdrawal
Kusinich is making sense this morning. Scary. He is not using the word coup, but he is highlighting the IC leaks of exact conversations to the media and the efforts to destroy any chance of better relations with Russia. McCain must be dancing a jig today.
Was Flynn an Obama appointee? I don’t remember any confirmation hearings.
Here is Jared schmoozing with the week after the election for a big China deal with the head of a big Chinese insurance company:

And here are Ivanka and Jared both getting wooed by China the week before Trump’s fawning letter and stated commitment to One China:
Flynn personally delivered the letter, but Trump is said to have discussed it with Tillerson at a dinner with him and Shelly Adelson (the mega-billionaire whose biggest coup was in getting picked by China to build what is his largest and most successful casino in Macau, China):

It is an unfortunate web of influence all around.
Let this serve as a reminder to all....Trump does not suffer fools or liars. One strike, you’re out.
Kusinich is a rare DC bird. I rarely agree with him, but I do listen to what he has to say. He offers his opinion, not talking points.
I actually watched some CNN this morning and this was their top story, of course. They claimed that their were three possible picks for a replacement, and were pushing for Gen Petreaus, LOL.
Seriously, they claimed Patreous would be the likely replacement.
Ignore the old media and hire another marine general.
Petraeus is permanently tainted goods. CNN would love his appointment. They and the rest of the Take Down the Administration crowd could preprint the scandal stories.
It is too bad. But there’s no room for error here. He should have come clean when he was being vetted by Trump and Pence. Now they will be made to look incompetent because of him. Yes, the details were probably leaked by people at DOJ who hate Trump and loved Obama and Hillary but Flynn gave them the rope to hang him with. Stupid thing to do.
Well, when you get yourself elected President, you can make the calls.
Bunch of people on this thread who seem to be going wobbly about Trump's good judgment.
TRump can be loyal to a fault. THis guy Flynn screwed up but I’m more worried about all the rats still in the CIA that are sabotaging Trump.
Sort of, "ok, I gave you what you want and gave up my best man for it. Now I have to know, was the problem him or YOU?"
