Across the weekend news programs, accusatory individuals spread words like criminal violation, felony, need to resign, and congressional investigation, freely as jam on bread. Yet they all know, for an absolute fact, this is a lot of whooped-up nonsense. Follow me, you will be truly amazed they know.
They know or should know that the Logan Act dates to 1799, when a state legislator with no ties to any administration tried to assert himself as personal negotiator for final peace with France. The anti-Jefferson Federalists did not like this private initiative, so passed the Logan Act to make private ventures intent on negotiating personal treaties over international feuds a crime. The bill was whipped out in days.
And in the 200 years since, not a single individual has ever been prosecuted under the act, not one. And its constitutionality is widely doubted in any event, even by Democrat legal scholars. Funny how precedent and constitutionality matter when they work for a party, and not at all when they work against it.

Put John Kerry in prison or STFU.
Let’s also not forget the actions of Ted Kennedy basically offering the Russian’s his services to thwart Reagan’s efforts to defeat the USSR. If anything met the criteria of the Logan Act that did, and in fact really could have been treason. We never heard about that from the media though.
It not the Logan Act that’s the problem. It’s that Flynn lied twice to Trump about the phone calls he made.
I'm looking for the WH to press the "reset" now that Jeff Sessions is sworn in as AG. Another thought....how the *ell did a Flynn conversation get leaked to the media?
What about Johnny ISIS?
The fact that they have to go with a 200+ year old law, which was never used against anyone, shows how far they are behind the 8 ball.
I'm sorry I haven't followed this case very closely. Do we know that Flynn lied to Trump? I mean: really know?
What about Johnny ISIS?
That’s exactly who I was thinking about.
Didn’t Jimmah Cartah negotiate with the Norks when he was a private citizen?
If true, that is a problem,

Do we know that Flynn lied to Trump? I mean: really know?
Team Trump put a message out, this morning, that RUMORS of Gen Flynn being fired are UNTRUE.
Seems like they wouldn’t bother making that statement, if Gen Flynn had lied (especially twice), to POTUS.
"Flynn initially said that in a conversation Dec. 29 with the Russian ambassador, Sergey Kislyak, he didnt discuss sanctions imposed that day by the outgoing Obama administration, which were levied in retaliation for alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Flynn now concedes that he did, administration officials said, after transcripts of his phone calls show as much. He also admits he spoke with the ambassador more than once on Dec. 29, despite weeks of the Trump teams insisting it was just one phone call, officials said."
The only thing we know for sure about Flynn, is that the establishment class hates him.
Nixon sabotaged the Paris Peace talks, while he was a civ. The list for hanging officials for treason is vast.
