An immediate evacuation for Oroville and areas downstream has been ordered. Supervisor Bill Connelly said specifically people who live in Downtown Oroville, Thermalito, and Palermo. The Department of Water Resources said the the mandatory evacuation is now extending to the Sutter County line.
An evacuation center has been set up at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds in Chico. The Elks Lodge in Paradise is also opening their RV Park for free to evacuees. Space is limited in the RV Park.

Yeah, I know better. Nothing wakes up the commie libs to the harsh realities of real life or shakes them out of their fantasy world. Everything is always everybody else’s fault.
I hope we don’t come to find out just what rock is down there and how much. If that happens, we have already lost the game, or most of it.
Always, ALWAYS appreciated. Thank you so much.
Who has money for life saving infrastructure that makes the economy hum? Don’t you know we desperately need that money for gay pride parades, global warming grants, food stamps, welfare, disability payments, and endangered species? We don’t need no stinking roads and bridges and airports and tunnels and dams. /HEAVY sarc
Beale is 30 miles south and 15 miles east of Oroville. Less than an hour’s drive.
It’s a long shot, but in the late 80s a levee broker at the river near the I-5 south of Sacramento and 5 was closed for a week or so.
If it keeps raining just check the how conditions on line when you are about to leave. I-5 would be my choice all the way to LA. 99 is further from the River and you can pick it up about Yuba City, but closer to the dam there IIRC.
“And now you propose a another earthen damn.” Right out of Chinatown.
Probably the same crooks stealing the money.
We are awash in misallocated money. It is a sin. This is why the founders wanted money spent at the lowest level — the cities and counties within states — and for the small limited federal government to have nearly no money to control.
It is amazing how right the founders got things. How smart they were.
Thanks, I’ll pass that along.
Sorry for the delay. There’s barely time to glance at the posts and comments at FR these days; my prolific posting days are many years in the past.
Glad you’re okay.
We have a retail center in East Marysville, multi-tenant with an independent supermarket which we operate (that was a steep and for years costly learning curve). Our people all got out fast on Friday. Store was broken into but local police prevented much damage or loss.
Hope all remains well. I’m heading to DC in two weeks to explore an employment opportunity a lot of folks hereabouts (FR) would probably about kill for. Not a done deal so please wish me well.
FRee Regards,
Sean
