Throughout the presidential campaign, Donald Trump pledged to take action on a host of issues, as all candidates tend to do when running for election. Now that he's president, Trump is actually following through.
One of those pledges was a promise to enforce existing U.S. immigration laws, including the deportation of those who entered the country illegally.
As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Trump pressed ahead with his immigration crackdown this week, launching deportation raids across the U.S.
The Independent was even more dramatic:
Panic and terror is said to be running through immigrant communities in the U.S. following raids carried out across at least six states as part of Donald Trumps pledge to crack down on illegal immigrants.
The Daily Beast reported that Trump's deportation force conducted an enforcement surge in multiple cities around the country:
Over the last five days, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducted what they call an enforcement surge in the Los Angeles area, arresting more than 160 undocumented immigrants.
Immigrants rights groups and lawyers told The Daily Beast that ICE also increased its enforcement activitiesincluding, in some cases, in apartment buildingsin a number of cities around the country, including Atlanta, Phoenix, Charlotte, and Austin.
The Independent quoted Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Gillian Christensen, who said the raids conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), were part of routine immigration enforcement actions:
Were talking about people who are threats to public safety or a threat to the integrity of the immigration system.
But Cristina Jimenez, executive director of United We Dream, has a different take:
This is clearly the first wave of attacks under the Trump administration, and we know this isnt going to be the only one."
Sarah Owings, an immigration attorney in Atlanta, sounded a similar alarm:
The muscle to do this kind of stuff is here its just that the leash has been taken off. Theyre out and theyre hunting. Theyre picking up and rounding up anyone they can get."
Listening to the critics one would think that America is a police state, with a Gestapo-like force rounding up panicked and terrorized innocents in the middle of the night, rather than a country attempting to enforce its immigration laws not only for the protection of its indigenous citizens, but for its legal immigrants as well.
Nope, it means high school kids can start doing it again ... better money than slinging frys.
I think FRESHWIND was only using the term GESTAPO because that is the word the MSM is using.
All he was saying was if you are an illegal, don’t want to get arrested, then go back to your own country.
Do you know any high school kids who know what a lawnmower is ?
I wonder if Bezos is employing thousands of criminal invaders?
It’s rumored he likes to employ H1B cheap imported labor.
Most ? Has anyone hear read or heard of a fraudulent vote being found that was FOR a Republican Candidate ?
I'm sure, if there were, the MSM would have had it as headline news.
I heard that HOOTERS was offering to hire 10,000 Muslim women.
Don’t know how that ‘dress code’ thing will work out for them.
GOOD!
Theyre picking up and rounding up anyone they can get.
GOOD! (again)
Do you think it's just a coincidence that the Corporations, IT Tech outfits, Silicon Valley guys who had meetings with the DNC/Obama Staff/MSM in a plan to destroy Trump all have large staffs of H1B labor ?
Raids are being carried out with a ferocity reminiscent of "Jenjis Khan".

I am a Mexican posting from Mexico, and very personally impacted, and emotionally charged, as we have tried DOZENS of decent honest ways to get friends who only wanted to VISIT the USA, turned down, after spending $120 USD for a visit to the Consulate office. Meanwhile, those who flood the borders and cross deserts are perceived as HEROS and should get some kind of diplomatic immunity. THIS is not right! And.... to the Snowflakes. Mexico really has had a LOT of improvement within it’s borders, nice roads, communications, jobs are much easier to find. They will find a much improved standard of living, and shouldn’t feel bad at all to be sent back to their country of origin. PLEASE factor in your reasoning logic process that the Gov’t of Mexico will loose 61 billion dollars of revenue it has been getting, and if the DRUG trade is cut off, this will be a major impact. People don’t want THIS change, but it does need to happen.
“This is supposed to be a happy occasion. Let’s not argue about ‘oo deported ‘oo...”
LOL! Yes, isn’t that going to be a drag?
We have both, here in Texas. Took some years to push through the legislature, but we made it.
Next step for us is constitutional carry, to eliminate the need for any government issued license.
Only if you take away their jobs and welfare benefits.
In fact, enforcing the law in those two areas will be far more effective than raids. Tens of millions will leave overnight, if they can't work or collect welfare.
Starve 'em out!
Small price to pay for saving our country, especially when compared to the price earlier generations paid.
Tis but a flesh wound.
I'm a natural born American citizen going back at least ten generations in this country. I'm also the owner of a small construction business that has been decimated by the presence of illegals in the trades these last twenty years.
I dedicated my life to my craft, and used to make professional wages for the skilled work I do. Over the last ten years or so, my wife and I have had to slash our retail prices nearly in half to stay competitive with the illegals. We can't collect welfare bennies on the flip side like the illegals do, so we effectively make less than what they take home each month.
As the pool of illegal labor dries up, the costs for residential improvements is likely to return to normal. I just hope the broad American public understands why, and thinks it through, as you have done.
No can do. The Supreme Court just ruled a few years back, that immigration enforcement is the sole province of the federal government.
Sadly for the hand wringing left, the President is in charge of every federal agency concerned with enforcing our immigration laws.
All of my four kids are expert with lawnmowers, weed whackers, and other gardening implements.
