Were on the verge of a new energy revolution. Except its the exact opposite of the one the experts at places like BP, the International Energy Agency and ahem the Guardian are predicting.
For years weve been assured by politicians, energy industry specialists and green advocates that renewables such as wind and solar are getting more and more cost-competitive while dirty fossil fuels are so discredited and wrong and evil well soon have to leave them in the ground.
But to believe this youd have to believe in a world where Donald Trump and Brexit hadnt happened; where taxpayers were still prepared to bankroll, ad infinitum, the expensive, inefficient, environmentally-damaging produce of favoured crony-capitalists; where no one had access on the internet to articles showing how the whole climate change industry is such a scam.
That world doesnt exist.

“The people who make money out of them should retire to their studies with a bottle of whisky and their service pistol and do the decent thing (except they wont because theyre not decent people).”
It has already been used architecturally. The technology is happening all over the place, with new developments monthly.

Subduction of carbonate rock plus water, depth to avail sufficient pressure, and intense mantle heat set up chemical reactions. Liberated methane and other light hydrocarbons then rise toward the Earth’s more shallow rocky layers.
You may be interested that Masimo (derived from the acquired Spire Semiconductor PV) is building a photo-voltaic bucky-sphere array, based upon existing concentrator conversion cells, to capture a 2000 sun flux from a 3000 K artificial light source. The first prototype will only use relatively inexpensive single layer cells of 11% efficiency for a thermal regimen.
Nearly commercial units are slated for field testing within 2nd half 2017, if the PV cooling system testing returns satisfactory results, and no surprises pop up. Upgrade to multi-layer PV at ~40% Eff. for a commercial product is the near term goal.
Yes, as one design, but there are several out there.
I don't know if I would like them funded by the government, as they seem to have enough funding. but I would like to review the regulations regarding nuclear power, and stick to the science. We seems to have a lot of fear based regulations rather than science based regulations.
“They blinded me with science”. To “them” science don’t matter. Only control matters. But yeah, the molten salt (sodium) is, as you say, just one of many designs being considered. But, I won’t be filing an application anytime soon. ;-)
Not to mention algae and plankton, under pressure for who knows how long? Plus natural gas is out there too, and that is even cleaner and safer than gasoline is.
