Over sixty percent of California voters went for Hillary Clinton -- a margin of more than 4 million votes over Donald Trump.
Since Clinton's defeat, the state seems to have become unhinged over Trump's unexpected election.
"Calexit" supporters brag that they will have enough signatures to qualify for a ballot measure calling for California's secession from the United States.
Some California officials have talked of the state not remitting its legally obligated tax dollars to the federal government. They talk of expanding its sanctuary cities into an entire sanctuary state that would nullify federal immigration law.
Californians also now talk about the value of the old Confederate idea of "states' rights." They whine that their state gives far too much revenue to Washington and gets too little back.
Residents boast about how their cool culture has little in common with the rest of the U.S. Some Californians claim the state could easily go it alone, divorced from the United States.
Sound a bit familiar?
In December 1860, South Carolina seceded from the Union in furor over the election of Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln did not receive 50 percent of the popular vote. He espoused values the state insisted did not reflect its own.
In eerie irony, liberal California is now mirror-imaging the arguments of reactionary South Carolina and other Southern states that vowed to go it alone in 1860 and 1861.

Pull all military out and watch communities dry up. Forward position troops and ships. Families to East Coast bases. Another option is pay troops in script, which can only be used on base. Embargo “exports” from California; the Southern states can make up the shortages in farm products.
Then wait and see how long their stance lasts.
Not sure California can afford to go independent. Over 45% of the state land is owned by the federal government. I don’t believe Trump or the Fed would be willing to gift this to a break away republic.
I get the concept, i'm just not sure it would work the same in California of 2017. These young people are not used to hardship and adversity. They will balk at doing anything hard and "not fun", like fighting people with guns.
Will there be enough murderous "officers" to scare the bejeebus out of them and make them fight? Who's to say they won't run away at first chance? Or turn their weapons on their leadership at first chance?
I see discipline as being horrible, especially if they have officers murdering people to keep them in line. This might work better on people accustomed to suffering, but a lot of the pampered snowflakes would do everything they could to get away from it.
There are a lot of things which would have to work out right for the communists to get this thing to work.
You also haven't addressed the problem of keeping the food, water and electricity flowing into the cities if people outside the cities decide to cut it off. Just a taste of Stalingrad would probably have them surrendering.
I don't know, I can see it going several different ways, one of which is the way you have suggested.
...Not to mention the Federal lands and all Federal installations. Doesn't leave much to grow that Calitopia with.
“...A genius tactician ...”
He had the operational art down pretty damned well, for sure. Reminds me of Patton, a little bit.
“...but a lousy administrator...”
That’s where you should surround yourself with other folks who are skilled at that.
I guess it’s a case of knowing your own strengths versus your weak spots.
California, flat broke and full of total Fools!!!!
State needs to be cut into two parts.
They will shoot any worker at a power plant the sabotages operations. Same with farmers. Leftists are all nicey nice in peacetime, in wartime totally vicious. Oh, and all the faggots and LGBT types, into camps they go.
In the early 1990s I began to tell folks that illegal immigration would cost the nation California.
I was told that I was a complete fool.
Well, here we are.
The federal government sets immigration policy and enforces it. States do not.
I demanded that the federal government do it’s duty.
It didn’t.
Well, here we are.
Largest earthen dam in the world and upstream from Sacramento and the precious California Delta.
Big money involved for repair.
Even bigger inflow imminent from melting snow pack. The dam is already full.
The lesson is clear.
Third world immigration yields anti constitutionalism, anti Americanism and secession.
Calling California “Confederate” is an insult to all the southern men who fought and died in that conflict, most of whom never owned a slave in their lives.
Rather CA is more like the rapacious North, here taxing the living hell out of its citizenry for whatever reason the state can manufacture.
Tilting at windmills....
Nonetheless; the instant California seceds from the US, the state of Jefferson seceds from California. Let the games begin.
All righty then.. cali veggies and fruit at stake...is a big deal you are spot on..
“Blockade Port of Long Beach.....................they will surrender..............”
Nah. Its easier than that. 2 people in 30 minutes could end this: Shut the water off that flows out of Glenn Canyon Dam & Hoover Dam. After Lakes Powell & Mead are full, send the excess to Arizona.
Let California drink sea water.
Or, we let them go and Trump builds the wall on the East side of Cali and sends all the illegals either there or Mexico proper. I wonder how long it would take for Oregon and Washington State to follow suit?
Doesn’t it show rather a lack of American patriotism to want to secede from the US of A, whether it was Texas under Obama or California under Trump?
You sir are spot on. The goal should be for CA to secede against the Federal Government’s wishes. Then, this will give the Government the 100% legal and moral authority to go in there and stomp a mud hole in those liberal scum. Within a year or two, the illegals will be back in Mexico and CA will be back in the RED foe generations to come.
Yeah, and then fire on Fort Alcatraz.
