Over sixty percent of California voters went for Hillary Clinton -- a margin of more than 4 million votes over Donald Trump.
Since Clinton's defeat, the state seems to have become unhinged over Trump's unexpected election.
"Calexit" supporters brag that they will have enough signatures to qualify for a ballot measure calling for California's secession from the United States.
Some California officials have talked of the state not remitting its legally obligated tax dollars to the federal government. They talk of expanding its sanctuary cities into an entire sanctuary state that would nullify federal immigration law.
Californians also now talk about the value of the old Confederate idea of "states' rights." They whine that their state gives far too much revenue to Washington and gets too little back.
Residents boast about how their cool culture has little in common with the rest of the U.S. Some Californians claim the state could easily go it alone, divorced from the United States.
Sound a bit familiar?
In December 1860, South Carolina seceded from the Union in furor over the election of Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln did not receive 50 percent of the popular vote. He espoused values the state insisted did not reflect its own.
In eerie irony, liberal California is now mirror-imaging the arguments of reactionary South Carolina and other Southern states that vowed to go it alone in 1860 and 1861.

Shouldn’t California liberals be encouraged to secede?
It would allow the US Army to go in and round up a bunch of scum starting with Jerry Brown and then thousands and thousands more.
California would be a solid red state in a year’s time!

Calexit, then the “red” counties (near half of the land area 25% of population) can secede from California to form their own state (Jefferson?). Still 50 states plus two GOP senators to replace DemWit ones.
Seems it could be win-win for the U.S.A.

I know you are right, many things would become more difficult logistically.
But many people are tired of bailing out debt as well.
Probably the best thing for theUS would be run out the illegals, reform the welfare schwartzeneggar state, and make the ports federally controlled using civilian contractors. Non union..

I have an idea...
If Cali libs want to secede, that’s fine. They can do so. They have the right to leave.
But WE keep the Land. The State stays HERE.
They’re free to leave, whenever they want. They can cross into Mexico, resettle there (since they obviously love that culture so much). They can become Mexifornians, Califortinos, or whatever the Hell they want to call themselves. Let Mexico deal with OUR “undocumented immigrants” for once - we’ll gladly hand them over to Mexican benevolence and their welfare system.
But - the state belongs to US, and we’ll resettle it with Americans.
Problem Solved.
If you start shelling them then you have a problem with me. There will be another revolt in the other 49. You warmongers need to know we are a nation of copperheads.
They don’t have to print currency. Just use the old Zimbabwe dollars. It would help stabilize both countries.
