Mexican president ‘rejects’ Trump orders, vows to protect immigrants inside US

Hours after U.S. President Donald Trump signed executive orders to curb illegal immigration, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto promised Wednesday night to protect Mexicans in the United States.

"Where there is a Mexican migrant at risk that requires our support, your country should be there," Peña Nieto said in a brief address to his nation, which he said was a response to Trump's actions earlier in the day.

"Our communities are not alone," Peña Nieto said. "The Mexican Government will provide them with the legal advice, which guarantees the protection they require."

Specifically, he said, "the 50 Mexican consulates in the United States will become authentic advocates for the rights of migrants." He didn't provide details on what he said he wanted them to do.

Peña Nieto is scheduled to meet with Trump next Tuesday to discuss trade and immigration. But after Trump signed the two orders — one to begin steps to fund Trump's promised wall along the U.S.-Mexican border and the other to significantly boost the U.S. Border Patrol — Peña Nieto said he was consulting with Mexican officials in Washington to decide on "the next steps."

While he stopped short of canceling the meeting, he insisted: "Mexico offers and demands respect as the fully sovereign nation we are."

Peña Nieto said he "regrets and rejects" Trump's orders Wednesday because "Mexico does not believe in walls."

"I have said it over and over again: Mexico will not pay for any wall," he stressed.

The showdown over immigration isn't the only tense topic on the agenda for next week's meeting, assuming it goes forward. Trade would also be a key issue of discussion with Trump, who promised during his campaign to renegotiate the terms of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

For that foreign interference inside our borders, throw them all out! Does anyone think Trump won’t move up the escalation ladder?

I hope Mexico’s president will keep his word and protect his citizens. There is no better way to do that than to bring them all back home.

Sooner or later the world is going to learn that you don’t screw with Trump. If Mexico was smart, he’d ask Trump for help in rebuilding the infrastructure in Mexico and creating jobs for the people down there.

Mexico sends these “migrants” (illegals) to the US to work and send remittances back home.

Remittances are the #1 source of revenue for Mexico now, surpassing even oil exports. Theirs is a parasitic economy, with ours as the host.

Of course they have a serious, vested interest in keeping this going.

Right. Remittances and the drug trade are the life blood of Mexico. Trump will cut off both sources of income.

Remember it was only a little over 100 years ago when we had troops on the border, with Pershing and Patton getting some more pre-Great War experience. And a lot of National Guard were down there too chasing Pancho Villa and his ilk.

And it was in 1914 when US Marines and US Navy Landing Forces went ashore and stayed for a while in Vera Cruz, in response to Mexican provocations.

Let me get this straight: the President of the country they are fleeing proposed to protect them while they are outside his borders? Perhaps he has forgotten the fundamentals?

This the most recent proof that Mexico certainly believes that Mexican illegal aliens are still “subject to the jurisdiction” of Mexico. Hence, children born in the US of parents “subject to the jurisdiction” of Mexico should not be conferred US citizenship via the 14th Amendment. End 14th Amendment birthright citizenship for illegal aliens now... Trump and Congress should act to define what “under the jurisdiction of” really means. Now.

If you are going to protect your citizens, why don’t you come and bring them home?

Or stop making Mexico such as $h*+hole that people want to leave . . .

It isn't a crowded country. Mexico has a population density less than California and similar to Tennessee.

"Mexico does not believe in walls."

Except on their own southern border, of course.

The Mexican President is about to learn what happens when you try to stand in the way of a train...a TRUMP TRAIN!

“Where there is a Mexican migrant at risk that requires our support, your country should be there,” Peña Nieto said in a brief address to his nation, which he said was a response to Trump’s actions earlier in the day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey Nieto, where’s YOUR damn country when one of your so-called citizens crosses the border?
Oh, that’s right, YOUR country is why they’re “migrating” in the first place - because it’s an open sewer and the rats are running away from the smell.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Our communities are not alone,” Peña Nieto said. “The Mexican Government will provide them with the legal advice, which guarantees the protection they require.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mexico’s advice: GET OUT OF HERE, WE ARE A THIRD-WORLD HOLE OF EXCREMENT.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Specifically, he said, “the 50 Mexican consulates in the United States will become authentic advocates for the rights of migrants.” He didn’t provide details on what he said he wanted them to do.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
50 sewer openings here? Close them, shunt the crap to stay where it belongs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While he stopped short of canceling the meeting, he insisted: “Mexico offers and demands respect as the fully sovereign nation we are.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A sovereign nation doesn’t tell its citizens to go to another country UNLESS IT IS AN INVASION. At that point, it’s WAR.
We kicked you off of the land back in the days of Santa Anna, now stay out and be that wonderful “sovereign nation” you claim to be.
UNLESS of course you REALLY want U.S. protection of your citizens, in which case we’ll take your country off your hands and make it the 51st State of the Union. Mississippi is tired of being dead last in all the stats.
“You may not believe, but walls are very effective. They always have been, throughout history. The Mexican president’s statement is silly, meant for political consumption only.”
Obama recently had walls installed at his new mansion.
There are also zillions of projects in Mexico that get U.S. taxpayer money to help (finance) with. City, county, state, and federal money and most of the time the taxpayer has no idea.
I just have 3 words for Mexico: 10 feet higher!
Also, just a suggestion, but when you are in a hole - stop digging.
Lots of ways for them to pay. One of the things I heard poo pooed on FOX yesterday was the tax on remittances. They said it affected the poorest of the poor who scrape together $50 to send. Not at the Western Unions at the Safeway near me. It’s usually $200 to $300 a week sent by the same people every week. They get that because they are paid under the table with no taxes on it. There is a huge underground economy here as I am sure there is elsewhere.
Mexico’s biggest industry is remittances.
