Donald Trump's inaugural speech did not go off without a hitch -- there was a clear fumble by the military -- but everyone's clammed up.
Trump began speaking and a minute and a half later, 8 men in uniform walk the steps and flank the prez from behind.

More likely it looked like Obama was going to try and grab the microphone and call it off, but the good guys formed up to protect Trump.
I found it quite jarring when I was watching, but I think they were bringing out rain gear.
I saw the ponchos being handed out and the one female officer who came to give umbrellas to the “ladies”, I don’t think the Shrill took one but Jill and Melania did
is my recollection. I could very well be mistaken, perhaps it was Mooch and Jill.

I think the apparent closeness was caused by the extreme telephoto lenses used for the broadcast. (I watched the whole ceremony). This thought comes from my broadcast degree, Navy photography training and work, being on the production staff of a large local network TV station and finally, my work as a Navy public affairs officer. Why troops were there is a question I can't answer.
I saw it toward the end of the speech and thought they were there as a cordon for the egress of President Trump and guests near the podium.
It surprised me when I saw that happen and wondered what the heck was going on.

I wondered what that was all about when I saw it.
Everybody knows they were there to keep on eye on Hillary just in case she happened to have a shiv in her pocket or something . . . but as things turned out, if she had one she would have probably used it on Billy’s ‘rovin’-eye.

Me, too. Good thing a Marine was standing behind Trump to tell the coup to get lost or die.
They were all commissioned officers, two were field grade officers with the gold braid on their hat bills. Why they were there is a total mystery to me but the Marine Captain came back and apparently told them to get the hell away after he put them there.
Exactly, and it’s curious that everyone is mum about what happened. I checked bo’s inauguration speech and didn’t see anything like it. It’s jarring how they all came behind the President at that moment, and VERY strange behavior.

Same here. Then I thought something was out of synch. Maybe the guard missed their cue and we’re late in accompanying Trump to the podium? Something wasn’t right.
5 days later this is news? This must me a slow news day.
I thought it was because of the rain and they were prepared to hold an umbrella over his head as he spoke, and to make sure his surroundings were as dry as possible. I didn’t think much of it. They retreated when it appeared it was merely a drizzle and President Trump was doing fine by himself. He’s not a little snowflake who will melt with the first raindrop.
I noticed that and wondered about it.
Look, it had just started to rain when Trump began the speak, they were passing out ponchos and having umbrellas ready for dignitaries Then the rain slacked up and they left. That is all
I remember seeing that during the inauguration and I honestly thought for a second .....Okay who’s getting arrested?
Is Trump arresting Hillary and Obama ..or Obama is arresting Trump
