RIP. People can certainly talk about the Dick Van Dyke Show and the one of her namesake, but I also remember the performance she gave in the movie “Ordinary People”. Not long ago, I was thinking about that movie and the character she portrayed in it and the very likely similarities with Hillary.

Dunno about your issue, but she was an far-out animal rights activist.
She wrote a screed, years and years ago, about inhumane treatment of lobsters. How they had human emotions and would "Walk claw-in-claw" with each other through the sand...
...I posted it up at the local Lobstah Pound. The boys who worked there got a real kick out of it.

RIP. I am a big fan of
The Dick Van Dyke Show and will always hold a soft spot for Laura Petrie. Loved her in that role.
Funny though -- I didn't really like The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She seemed like a different person on that one. Not to mention that it was full of 70's feminist drivel.

Isnt she the one who dismisses murdered babies as detritus? Got a credible source for that claim?

Talented and kept a low profile. I knew she was coming to the end of the line when the said “grave”.

The Mary Tyler Moore show was genius.
The casting was perfect and the show had most of the same writers as the early seasons of The Simpsons.
Still watch the reruns. It’s held up really well.

“By all means, let’s denigrate her memory...”
If she indeed said that, it is not the poster “denigrating her memory” but, rather, her own words.

She battled the bottle early on too, as did her parents, I think.
And Dick Van Dyke as well.
Lord, the trials we put ourselves through.

The only writer to work on both was James L Brooks. He cocreated MTM and The Simpsons is made by his company.

I grew up on reruns of the Dick Van Dyke show. She was always my favorite. An incredibly talented and funny lady. One of the best scenes from the MTM show. In Memoriam:
