WASHINGTON - Young immigrants currently protected from deportation will be quickly removed from the country by President Donald Trump’s plan to boost deportations, even if the new president doesn’t target them directly, according to a former senior immigration official in the Obama administration.
Democratic leaders and advocates within the immigration community are bracing for Trump on Monday to eliminate several of Obama’s executive actions on immigration, including the deferred action program, known as DACA, that protects an estimated 750,000 immigrants brought here illegally as children.
Trump is not expected to immediately launch raids targeting the students, but fears among so-called Dreamers could grow as Trump executes plans to deport more than 2 million immigrants with any form of criminal records. In the process he’s inevitably going to sweep up many DACA students who will unlikely have the safeguards to protect themselves.

Years ago someone had the idea of an “American Foreign Legion” that would fast-track foreigners for citizenship. Of course, that was when we had wars to fight.
Something to note about DACA:
DACA is Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
Not the term “Childhood Arrivals”. That means people people that arrived here illegally between 0 and 18 years old. But that is when THEY ARRIVED HERE - not their ages today.
Today, DACAs can be ANY AGE - 40 years old...all that matters is that they came here, or at least claimed to have come here, as children.
So, once again, WE ARE BEING PLAYED. The ONLY PEOPLE they talk about are the ones that are still children...not what is likely the majority of them, which are ADULTS now.
If you’re a conservative or an Israeli, I think Canadians do indeed wish you ill.

It would be nice if Pres. Trump would pitch ‘em out, but I won’t hold my breath.

They aren’t undocumented, they have more documents than you do, all fraudulent.

Yes we have had these laws. But they haven’t been truly enforced for decades. The message that has been sent by our government and politicians is that while technically speaking we have laws, it is no big deal if you don’t respect the laws because they certainly don’t.
they and their families have had ample time to decide to do the right thing and return to their home country and apply to come here legally.
Letting those who were brought as infant or child here stay is like saying it’s ok for women to come here and give birth so their child can stay and have rights.
Those “dreamers” chose to remain here illegally hoping they could continue to stay and suck up tax payer monies and services all while continuing and knowingly breaking the law.
only thing that unsettles me is Trump said he was working on some thing they would like.
I don’t want them cutting in line or any favoritism. Their parents brought them illegally and they chose to stay illegally.
I could see something along the lines you’re talking, but ONLY for those brought here as minors. Even this would have some restrictions:
- No option for citizenship EVER (and with it, no suffrage), even if they would choose to return to their home country for a time.
- No ability to pass this legal status to others (i.e. Their illegal immigrant parents could still be deported).
- Commission of a felony at any future time is grounds for automatic deportation.
- Only applies to those currently here (i.e. Stop bringing/sending your kids, because we will deport them).
And just how do you think those ILLEGAL ALIEN children got their education, did they pay for it?
NO!!!! The legal TAXPAYERS of the states they INVADED payed for it.
You make a good point, and I am with you. It’s not as simple as we like to believe, the exception being of children living here 5 years or more. Not their fault, and they could become major recruitment opportunities for terror groups and cartels after hostile deportation.
AND enforce it! It’s illegal now, just not enforced.

As I recall, Donald said he immediately deport at illegal aliens who have committed crime and then would announce the next step.
I suspect he has already ordered that all immigration laws on the books be enforced with gusto.
Offer them an option. If you are illegal and stay in this country, only family members born after 2009 can vote in elections. If you do not accept this, you must return to your country of origin.
If they whine about it, you know it isn’t about immigration.
