Arizona Sen. John McCain on Sunday said that he is still uncertain about whether President Trump will lead a successful administration.
Asked if he has "confidence" in America's new commander in chief, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee twice said: "I do not know."
"I do not know because has made so many comments that are contradictory," McCain told ABC's George Stephanopoulos.
"But I think the fact that he's appointed and nominated these outstanding individuals is bound to be an encouraging sign," he continued. "I trust them and have worked with them over many years."

McCain, a Republican, has been a leading critic of Rex Tillerson, Trump's pick for secretary of State. But he admitted Sunday that he is impressed with the generals Trump has appointed to his administration.
"I have the utmost confidence in Gen. Mattis, Gen. Kelly and Gen. Flynn," he said. "I couldn't have picked a better Cabinet."
He needs to just be quiet.
Hey Juan, you feeble-minded pol, his agenda has not changed since day one.
Your thoughts are irrelevant dbag.
McLame, STFU and humble yourself, loser.
Well, Juan, I know whether I have confidence in you.
No.
I do know that I have confidence that John McCain will do or say the completely WRONG thing for America!
Trump does make a lot of statements that are thrown into the wind...and everyone takes them at gospel....so help me God....geez....bunch of dummies.
“I couldn’t have picked a better Cabinet.”
And thank God you never got the chance.
IRRELEVANT
There it is....blatant jealousy....”I couldn’t have picked a better cabinet”.
I wish McCain would just be quiet, but that’s asking too much. I appreciate his honesty with that answer. I’m sure many GOPe’s feel this same way. The truth is Donald Trump does have a way of contradicting himself many times on the same topic. That trait of his drove me nuts last spring, until I decided to just stop worrying about the process. At this point (post Inauguration), his doubt will not be that damaging.
America has no confidence in YOU, Juan, so just stfu and stay out of our way.
But his confidence in Obama was running out of Obama’s but and into McCain’s face.
I still think the DNC funded his 2008 run.
Mr. President could change precedent and ask McCain to resign. Peoples heads would explode.
McCain can answer “ I do not know” to many questions.
That’s touching, coming from a man that passes fake news against Donald Trump. You know, we really don’t have any confidence in you, Hanoi Johnny.
At least Kennedy had the courage to register in the Democrat party and support his chosen side.
McStain haven’t been man enough to do that, so a decent Republican could run against him in the general election.
Did John say anything like this two days after The Kenyan took office.
Whatta putz.
