Millennials voted in a greater percentage for Trump than expected and voted for 3rd party candidates. Throughout our political history younger voters lean Democrat, older voters Republican. It is less about the uniqueness of the group that are “Millenials” and more about their age, hence they would be expected to become more conservative with time.
Millenials have no life experiences to compare the Obama years with so the economic improvements & opportunities going forward will be an eye opener for them.
You see, here we have 2, and over here we have 2, and then right here there’s another 2!
2+2+2 = 28!
Isn’t it amazing?
GMTA - I haven't even opened this part of the discussion with my lib-prog friend but it's out there like a hanging curve ball.
Evil never sleeps. So yeah, we can expect the ‘rats to be around for the foreseeable future. We got some breathing room and a chance to reverse the dive into oblivion.
I remain of the belief that we have a uniparty system that while knocked back a bit, is still very powerful. Given the uniparty’s druthers, we would all be put in chains in short order. We basically pulled a ace high straight in November, and that’s a pretty rare thing. Ultimately all politics boils down to economics and if DJT and the republican majority can show that they can provide the goods, they will win for awhile. In the mean time, we need to build our redoubt while we can because like a bad cancer, the ‘rats will return.
Thanks for the addition of that map. It is a factor to be considered and why no quarter can be given in the struggle, IMO.
To your point:

Thanks for those talking points on CA. I personally think there are two tipping points out there: public pensions and the “bullet train” of Gov. Brown’s fevered imagination.
Today California is totally run by a new generation of progressive Democrats.

And it’s being run into the ground.

The same would have been for Gen Xers a few years ago.
Children always break socialist.
Then they get jobs and start to accumulate wealth. When they see the wealth being removed at the point of a gun and given to the non-productive elements of society and the world they change opinions quickly.
Remember, just a few years ago the pundits were saying demographics were the end of the Republican Party.
The homo says nothing about surging radical islam. That can’t be solved with his faith in a digital globalist world.
“There are three fundamentally different characteristics of this civilization: One, it will be run totally on digital technologies, smarter and smarter, more and more interconnected computers. Two, it will be totally global and operate on a planetary scale. And three, it will have to be sustainable, in its energy usage and its impact on the planet.”
Not a single about personal liberty.
Then he goes on to speak glowingly about how California has risen above the opinions of others and now is a one party state.
Folks, they are coming. Enjoy this moment but don’t get complacent.
The entire article demonstrates that the writer has no idea how the real economy works.
And one wastes one’s time trying to educate him because anyone over 25 years old who has not figured it out really does not want to figure it out.
They want to live in their dream world.
Your lefty friend cannot imagine the strong likelihood that he and the millenials will eventually grow up.
They embrace big government because they believe themselves enlightened and big Gov allows them to shove this enlightenment down everyone’s throat.
Always look at the bright side of life!
His entire argument is false and baseless.
California is NOT (in any way) economically viable. Colorado and Texas (and now Nevada) are growing at much faster rates as businesses relocate out of California because of the oppressive taxation and regulatory environments.
He HAS to prop up California as the success story because it’s the only thing he can point to AS a success story.
“They had 2 million more votes for Clinton” - They had higher percentages for Trump in other blue states. He has to cite the raw numbers because it’s a feel good story for him - but it’s meaningless.
“Conservatives don’t exist in California” Actually they do - but california changed their laws so that run offs have to occur with candidates with the most popular votes - So if the Republican get 25% and Democrat A gets 26% and Democrat B gets 27% then the general public MUST vote between Democrat A and B for the primary candidates.
I can go on but...r emember this is the same state that voted overwhelmingly for Prop 8 (no gay marriage) and was overruled by 3 people and a government that refused to defend their own laws and constitution.
THAT is what this lib-prog is defending.
What happens as the boomer generation retires over the next few years?
Take the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT vote OUT of CA. and let’s SEE what the TRUE VOTE is!!!! There is NO WAY CA. can be allowed to run this country, I LIVE HERE it IS MEXICO flags flying high and Spanish language required!!!
