GOP-Hating Rep. John Lewis Didn’t Pay His Real Estate Taxes

GOP-Hating Rep. John Lewis Didn’t Pay His Real Estate Taxes

Instead of finding fault with the new president, maybe Rep. John Lewis should worry about paying his real estate taxes. The well-paid congressman didn’t pay taxes on his nearly $1 million posh D.C. townhouse on Capital Hill.

Rep. Lewis said Donald Trump isn’t a “legitimate” president, same thing he said about George Bush, but he’s not a legitimate taxpayer.

Public records show he avoided paying property taxes on his DC townhouse at 219 3rd Street SE on Capitol Hill, Got News reported. Click the link for Got News to see the documentation.

It’s a beautiful home! Not cheap!

A $1,000,000 town house carries a monthly mortgage payment of around $4,500-$5,000. That is if you have a STELLAR 780+ credit score and somehow get below 5%. Not going to happen on a jumbo loan like this.

A Member of Congress gets paid a good salary $174,000. Minus taxes around $104,000. He has to pay for a house/residence in Atlanta and other expenses and pay $60,000 a year for a mortgage.

How on earth does anyone expect him to pay the taxes as well and still maintain his dainty 250# figure?

I have no idea how long he has lived there, but 30 years ago it was a 2-300K house at most. He’s been in DC long enough that it is easily possible for him to own a “modest” million dollar home.

DC has a neat arrangement where if you do not pay your property tax, the note is sold at public auction. The city gets paid up front and the deadbeat gets to pay additional fees and interest. If the deadbeat fails to clear the tax lien the property can turn over to the lien holder. The process takes a few years, but works well.

He didn’t buy the house for $1M, or likely anywhere near that. Likely bought it years ago when the city was a shithole. There was a time where even houses around Lincoln Park were vacant/dumps.

Doesn’t matter.

He says he has a net worth of around $10,000 according to disclosure statements. That means he has no equity in that house or his Atlanta home. He must have a 100% mortgage on both or he is lying about his net worth.

He is either a liar or thief. Probably a little bit of both.

BTW: If we are capable of ‘draining the swamp’, we may put enough of DC out of work to make his neighborhood a shit hole again!

When a majority of richest counties surround DC, we have a real problem in this country. Particularly when the government is so incompetent. If government was the least bit competent it wouldn’t be so scandalous.

He is a liar, and probably a crook as well. But, by God, he got those scars by standing up for what he believed in, and showed a lot of courage in the face of violent threats.

The people in the NCR are equally oblivious to what the rest of the country has been going through.

"Arrest the bastard. God, is he ugly, or what? Looks like he ran into a wall"

I don't see any difference between 1961 and today?

“Remember, John Lewis was not beaten up by Republicans. He was beaten up by Bull Connor, the Southern sheriff who was a Democrat,” D’Souza continued. “The whole Southern Establishment … all these guys were racist Democrats. And yet in a beautiful sleight of hand, the progressives are trying to transfer the blame away from their own party and onto the Republican Party.”

Dinesh D'Souza
