President-elect Donald Trump, after growing suspicious that intelligence officials were leaking news about their classified briefings with him, says he conducted a sting operation to try to prove top spies were behind the leaks.
Trump revealed the extraordinary scheme to try to entrap the senior spies in a furious press conference where he suggested the intelligence community had been behind salacious and totally unproven allegations against him.
‘I think it’s pretty sad when intelligence reports get leaked out to the press. First of all, it’s illegal. These are classified and certified meetings and reports,’ Trump said during a press conference at Trump Tower – his first since getting elected.
Then he revealed the details of the stealthy sting he says he conducted on the nation’s senior spooks.
‘I’ll tell you what does happen. I have many meetings with intelligence. And every time I meet, people are reading about it,' Trump complained, possibly referencing reports on his classified briefings, which he has chosen not to receive daily. Russian Studies Professor Stephen Cohen said the publication of an unverified dossier of information regarding President-elect Donald Trump and Russia is the “endgame in the last chapter in an attempt to destroy Trump’s presidency” before he takes office.
Cohen dismissed the dossier as “essentially tabloid stuff” that he could easily purchase from so-called Russian “private intelligence agents out to make a buck”.
“It’s scuttlebutt, it’s rumor,” he said, “it’s junk...[that’s] seen in Moscow.”
Cohen said mainstream media figures have been calling Trump a ‘puppet of the Kremlin’ for some time, which he remarked started when they decided to consider him as running with “Putin” rather than “Pence”.
People are desperate to wound Trump to stop any type of detente with Russia, Cohen said, “these accusations [themselves] have become a grave American national security threat.”
It would be easier to just dismantle the CIA than to clean it up. Just take away the funding, shut it down and send them all home.

Intel chief calls Trump to disavow leaks
The nation’s top intel chief called President-elect Donald Trump Wednesday to personally deny leaking to the media a dubious dossier of allegations about sensitive information the Russians supposedly had about him.
Trump confirmed Thursday that Director of National Intelligence James Clapper spoke to him by phone, apparently sometime after a press conference in which Trump lashed out at media outlets, including Buzzfeed and CNN, that ran with the story and speculated it was leaked by federal officials.
“James Clapper called me yesterday to denounce the false and fictitious report that was illegally circulated,” Trump tweeted. “Made up, phony facts.Too bad!”
