NEW YORK (AP) A shouting match with a reporter. A long unexplained prop. An unexpected interlude from a lawyer.
Donald Trump's raucous first news conference as president-elect bore little resemblance to the usually staid and choreographed sessions with the occupant of the Oval Office. It was a 58-minute display of how some of the old rules of journalism will be tested in the Trump era.

“A shouting match...” Can these bastids EVER tell the truth. The reporter was screaming, Trump never raised his voice.

Good. I’m glad it turned combative. I’m sick of spineless twits.
The media needs to be defanged.

Well, when the media are kissing the president's butt, it will be "staid and choreographed." What else would you expect? After last night's farewell speech, Obama had to shower twice this morning to remove all the MSM lipstick from his butt.

LOVED IT! It is about time the media gets knocked around for being corrupt.

This story is written in such a way as to imply that CNN is defending the accusations against Trump. The implication is that it is Trump rather than CNN/Buzzfeed that is lying.

Correct. Trump was pointing to someone else to ask the next question, and the CNN jerk wouldn't shut up and kept interrupting. He seemed very entitled.

Finally. The press gets treated like the Howdy Doody peanut gallery that they really are.
To: mdittmar
Trump is the Master. He called a PC and sucked all the wind out of the Democrat "Sessions is a Racist" Circus and called in a Nuclear "Fake News" Strike and obliterated CNN.
The Democrats/MCM have no idea how big the Shit Storm is that is coming!

I thought Trump handled himself pretty well. I would have been tempted to walk out there and smack the dog sh*t out of the CNN asshat.
To: mdittmar
I would bet most people appreciate the way Trump handled it. CNN dude was obnoxious, Trump was able to put him in his place and also use that as an excuse to condemn CNN. Perfect. Trump is going to show them all that they no longer have the influence. Their days are over and they know it.

It was not a shouting match. Yes, he called out reporters who’ve been unfair to him. And he didn’t answer the unfair reporters’ questions.
And he did explain the files. The woman (a lawyer, I think) who was explaining the many, many steps Trump has taken to distance himself from his business interests and to ensure that he is insulated, as president, from any business decisions his sons take, mentioned what they were briefly (the many documents involved in this complicated transition).
Then Trump, at the end, made sure to let the reporters know what they were.
It was quite clear that he and his team have worked very hard on ensuring an ethical, smooth transition.

The press conference was a decent length of time, and I wouldn’t term it combative at all. The row with the CNN guy lasted between 30 seconds and a minute.
The rest of the presser was informative and was almost all a good give and take.
Trumps (female) attorney explained measures being taken to avoid conflict of interest. They were extensive measures, and went well beyond what was required by law.
This report is silly.

Notice they don't bother to cover the substance of the press conference, just discuss the file folders or Trump's attorney or that Trump dressed down a CNN reporter. Yeah, this is news... Everyone in the media is so busy hyperventilating over unconfirmed, supposed intel reports, nobody is going to cover that Trump has gone WAY above and beyond in divesting himself of any perception of conflict of interest in his business holdings.
