During Senator Jeff Sessions, R-Ala. (C,78%) Attorney General confirmation hearing today in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Ted Cruz, R-Tex. (A, 97%) pointed out numerous Democratic hypocrisies that have been manifested in the past few years and during the hearing.
Democrats on the committee, especially Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. (F, 0%) had been grilling Sessions on whether he would uphold abortion laws in the United States if he becomes Attorney General. Senator Patrick Leahy, D, Vt. (F, 6%) interrogated Sessions on LGBT rights, questioning whether Sessions would uphold civil rights laws as Attorney General.
But did the Democrats care when Obama routinely flouted the law?
Ted Cruz wasnt having it:

When the Obama Justice Department sent millions of dollars of taxpayer money to sanctuary cities defying federal immigration law, the Democrats on this committee were silent. When the Obama administration refused to enforce federal immigration law the Democrats on this committee were silent. When the Obama administration released tens of thousands of illegal aliens including rapists and murderers into the general population, Democrats on this committee were silent.
Ted Cruz was kicking ass. And he wasnt done. He pointed out Democratic hypocritical silence on Obama flouting the law and paying a ransom to Iran and for releasing Guantanamo terrorists without congressional approval.
Senator Cruzs comments were met with acclaim from conservatives on Twitter:
And there goes @tedcruz back on the top of his game...calling out Democrats hypocrisy/lawlessness. Woo-hoo

Ted Cruz is absolutely destroying the democrats on the Senate Floor. Thank God we have him in the senate. #SenateHearings #ConfirmSessions

Preach it, Ted Cruz.
You are incorrect Sir and projecting upon me something within yourself.
Trump was not my 1st choice but I had Trump Chistmas ornaments on my tree this year.
Its easy to project onto those you don’t know however.
Someone asked me a question. I answered it. You were not the questioner so I would not expect a reply from you.
You misunderstood that post.
Exactly. It was a campaign to win. Both attacked each other with everything they had. Cruz made me angry at the time, but in retrospect he was doing what he should have been doing. It was no rules, mud pit wrestling and that’s the way they all played it. Including Trump.
I agree with you...what I can’t understand is all the cruz apologists on this forum...apparently no one has been paying attention recently.
Well, I have and I don’t trust cruz as far as I can throw him....
And I’m convinced his self interests and hidden agenda’s will again bite him in the butt.
His father was with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to Oswalds being, you know, shot. I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous, Trump said.
Nobody even brings it up. They dont even talk about that. That was reported, and nobody talks about it.
What was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the shooting? Trump asked.
Exactly the thoughts that went through MY head when I first saw that photo (accepting that the man in the photo is even Cruz’s father). To me, that’s a long way from saying the guy had anything to do with Kennedy’s assassination.
Respectfully, Cruz’s ‘vote your conscience ‘ was certainly not received by the convention crowd as an endorsement of Trump, judging from all the booing. Further, Cruz has a brain, I think, and was not forced to say it. Still hard to forget.
I used to like Cruz, but he is in it for himself
That is the point. The Trump campaign approved the speech 24hours in advance. The response was orchestrated. But that issue is secondary to the rest of my post.
Not a long way. When you say “What was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the shooting” — you are implying that there is some connection to the shooting. It is certainly how most people took the comments.
I mean, if Trump came right out and said it, there might be legal risk to him — this statement is the way you put out that same idea without risking a libel suit.
Anyway, I get that nobody really cared about this — after all Trump managed to eek out a win even with the many things he said about people. It’s just I believe a bit too much to see people who were willing to ignore attacks for the sake of victory to now be so righteously indignant about Cruz.
I don’t agree. If I said What was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the shooting I would mean nothing more than What was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the shooting” - as in, “Damn... THAT’S weird!”
As it is, you hold Trump accountable for something he didn’t say because you say if he came out and said it he’d be risking a libel suit... well, he DIDN’T come out and say it, and you don’t have the ability to mind read (neither do I, so for all I know he really COULD believe it).
Regardless - Cruz did well yesterday and I was happy to see him stand up to the vile Democrats and say stuff the Republicans are too polite (or cowardly) to say.
Agree. Whether we harbor past grievances or not he did an excellent job here supporting Senator Sessions and deserves credit for it.
RE: I used to like Cruz, but he is in it for himself
And how do you know that? You have special insight into the inner workings of his mind?
.
I didn’t mean from me, and there would be no reason that I would be ungracious toward you.
.
.
yldstrk has that special access to everyone’s mind that only insane trolls have
.
.
I’m sure that by now everyone in the US is aware that the fools at the National Enquirer did it on Trump’s behalf, knowing full well that it was absurd and libelous.
Do we know for sure that Trump requested this service?
Obviously not.
.
.
OK.
I just never looked at offering a brief line of advice to the cognitively impaired as “screaming,” but perhaps I am getting too old to be doing it too. :o)
.
It wouldn’t be the first time.
Ok. Thanks for the clarification.
Don’t sweat it.
Take care.
