One Silicon Valley executive had a few choice words to describe Americans living in the heart of the nation, and they were not flattering.
Melinda Byerley, MBA and founder of Timeshare CMO, a Silicon Valley-based tech start-up, tweeted out Saturday afternoon describing what middle America could do to get more jobs in their area.

I went to one year of Jr. High in mercer Island in 1967. We didn’t mix. We got a really nice house for dirt cheap rent because it was to be torn down for the I-90 expansion. The kids at that school knew I wasn’t rich and the way they treated us was a bit annoying.
Interestingly, I rented there for a couple of years (on the scar a couple of blocks from Paul Allen’s “compound”) about 12 years ago for the same reason. Nice house but dirt cheap rent.
One of my friends became an Algona cop back in the early 70’s. Pacific and Algona (and Black Diamond) very much resemble the small towns around here. in central KY, though there is a lot more history here.
I went to a Kent HS WAY back in the day. Covington was part of my stomping grounds back in the day, I was shocked how it got built up when I visited the “new” costco store there. You would have thought they would have done a bit more traffic planning before putting all that stuff, but that does seem to be the King county way.
Whole Foods vary a bit according to the city. In Austin there is one with so many ‘just folks’, that there’s a deputy sitting near the front door.
The ones here in WA are more true to form. I shop at Fred Meyer, a sort of WalMart only with better behaved more civil clientele. Never a need for a deputy (at least not at the Bothell Freddie’s)..
Looks like it was done by an intelligent lib with a sense of humor who knew how to make fun of herself.
Is it just possible she got rebuffed - and deservedly so -by a discerning Midwesterner at her favorite singles bar?
Just another Fag Francisco Leftist who is comfortable openly expressing her total DISTAIN for hard working and patriotic Americans. And they wonder why so many people voted for Trump.
Wow~she is a real piece of work...However, in all likelihood, she is merely publicly stating what many progressive elitists privately believe.
“If you want jobs, clean up your act and make your town a place that PEOPLE LIKE US want to in.”
Please, oh please, Melinda, don’t ever move to the Midwest!
Some random observations:
She is the epitome of a pretentious, stereotying elitist!
-—She opens her tweet stating that “...No educated person wants to live in a shithole with stupid people. Especially violent racist and/or misogynistic ones.”
My oh my, she sure does stereotype a lot...against anything Midwestern...the states, the towns, the schools, the people.
She does not know how to write a complete sentence—even taking into consideration she is using Twitter; apparently, English was not her forte. Tsk tsk, how sad for one so educated with an MBA...MBA? Big whoop! Many people have an MBA—even in the Midwest! According to Fortune Mag, MBA is most popular degree, not some rare specialized area of study. http://fortune.com/2014/05/31/mba-popular-masters-degree/
—She defines a desirable town as one having “infrastructure” good schools, and a LOT OF BARS??? I highly doubt that “Bar-Count” is a top priority for most families seeking nice communities in which to live.
Speaking of living, many tech workers cannot even afford a room to live in her precious San Fran. area.
— Interesting contrast between her tweet and her “about” section on her webpage...
So many issues with what she said...
TWEET: We especially don’t want to live in states where the majority of residents are still voting for things that are against their own interests just because they don’t want BROWN PEOPLE to thrive.
ABOUT: I’ve hand picked and trained a team of experts, all located in the United States and native English speakers, to execute the work you need, fast.
So she is advertising that she hires “NATIVE ENGLISH speakers.” I would think she would hire more foreign speakers as it is so important for her that BROWN PEOPLE thrive...
Hmmm not very tolerant of her with all of her “west coast” values.
Wonder what she thinks about Southerners?
Frankly, we Midwesterners are much better off not having pretentious, stereotyping elitists foisting their liberal views on us.
Please, oh please, Melinda, don’t ever move to the Midwest! Calexit is looking better every day.
Some of the most brilliant people I’ve met never stepped foot on a college campus.
Just wanted to tell you that you are not entirely off. I teach in a rural district and I see a lot of what you describe. Not a majority, but that will come in time as the ones who want a future leave.
What’s more hilarious is that it’s clearly a very basic template website using generic stock photography. And for all the blather about brown people she seems to have only hired two submissive-looking white male dorks. She’s about as unlikely of a queen bee as I’ve ever seen and really isn’t much of one, name-dropping big companies left and right but the testimonials are all distinctly small fry.
;;; the ones who want a future leave.
What a condescending -itch. My husband works for one of those "Silicon Valley-based tech companies" right here in the center of the country - Oklahoma City. They may lease office space, but it's cheap rent and because of the internet, most everyone can work from home anyway. The cost of living is cheaper and they can get away with paying lower salaries that are still excellent for this part of the country.
If we lived in CA, he'd be making 3 times his current salary but we'd pay 4 times for everything. California's a beautiful state, but so is Oklahoma, and she can keep all that attitude out there, thank you.
” In Seattle, the various income levels and cultures dont really have to mix. Its a big place. Some shop at Bellevue Square and others shop at Costco, while others shop at Wal-Mart”
Meaning you could segregate yourself from the lower class by choosing to shop and live in higher income locations.
Welcome to realty. It’s invigorating once you get over being slapped in the face by it.
Call me a misogynist bigot but that’s one butch lesbo feminist.
Yep. I’ve also learned that it’s hard to mix with people that are not like you. It can be done and we do it, but it makes most people very uncomfortable.
Birds of a feather and all that.
What makes it easy for us is that we don’t really need to hang around a bunch of friends. We have family and we have each other. We don’t do much even with the folks in our church. We don’t shun anybody though. I recently joined the choir just to get more involved and get to know more people. And yeah, they are a VERY diverse group, for a bunch of white people. ;)
That’s good...LOL
