Nope, no sound, I know because I asked my wife is she heard anything.
She said NO.
Well if my little mrs hears one of our kids, we have a parcel full, sniffle at 500 yards did hear it, there was no sound.
For something that big, even 3000 miles away coming down, she would have heard it, woke me up and said “I hear something, get up and find out what it is, but be careful, take some guns with you.” < /joking and having fun>

A pity, but that hole has been there more than a century. I’m kind of surprised it lasted as long as it did with that kind of structural compromise. I guess the toothpick market is going to be seeing a glut soon.

The competition for the worst president continues between Carter and Øbama...
Now they both can claim that on their watches, a great Sequoia went down.

Why didn't the Sierra Club have ropes tied to it and hold it up?
They have tons (millions) of dollars.

Firewood? No doubt, but there should be plenty of good wood left for a couple of homes.
Fond memories of visiting that park.

They’re also responsible for the stormy weather up in northern California that caused that tree to topple over.
