President-elect Donald Trump's team decided not to call upon the services of the inauguration announcer who has worked every parade for the past 60 years, according to a local Washington station.
Trump is choosing not to use Charles Brotman, 89, to announce his inaugural parade breaking with decades of tradition that began with Brotman's first inaugural gig for Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1957.
Brotman told ABC News D.C. affiliate he was heartbroken to learn he wouldn't be announcing what would have been his 12th inaugural parade.
Ive been doing this for 60 years, Brotman told WJLA.
I was destroyed, he added.
Brotman, once known as the voice of the Washington Senators baseball team, said he had already started to prepare for the upcoming inaugural parade before he learned he was not going to have a role. . .

The editor probably thought that Presidents who get reelected don’t have inaugural parades.
In that case, the math would check out, as Ike was our 34th President, and Trump will be our 45th.
I remember the day before 43 was sworn in got an email from DOJ saying that effective noon the next day (when he was being sworn in) all US Attorneys and US Marshals and the Attorney General were gone......as an employee of the USDOJ? Loved it......LOL
They found someone older.

LOL. Now that there is funny!
Another entitled American. Time to shake things up!

Exactly right.
Damned if you do, damned if you dont. So please yourself.

A truism Trump apparently had figured out many years ago.
I agree. I would like to know why he was replaced. I’m not saying Trump doesn’t have a right to replace him. I just want to know why.
Ya mean like in the grocery store check-out line?
Obviously some establishment functionary, probably a Democrat, assumed incorrectly that Trump would simply acquiesce to a fait accompli, a rather obtuse thing to do considering Trump’s personality.
Yep things change as life moves forward. Some other units that have participated in the past
have dropped this year. And new ones are being admitted.
Example:
Three Oaks rodeo drill team to perform in inauguration parade
The girls applied to perform for President Obama’s parade in 2009, but they didn’t get in.
This time the lucky ladies were chosen out of more than 3,000 entries to have a once in a
lifetime opportunity.

Have you looked at Congress lately? John McCain, maybe?
Or the bench for the Democratic Party, maybe?
I think its a shame. They should have let him do it. Thats a tradition I dont think needed to be blown up. The man is 89 years old, and it may have been his last parade anyway. There are a lot of people who dont want anything to do with Trump, and this man was excited to announce the parade for him.

The gentleman is a life-long Democrat. I’m sure the Trump organization knows exactly what it is doing in making this decision. They might have reasons to be concerned that he would take the opportunity to embarrass the President. In my view Trump would be wise to NEVER trust any Democrat.
I will be glad to see the end of the sluts and scumbags who have been frequenting the White House regularly during the Obama years. Will be wonderful to see a Presidential family we can be proud of and real Americans on the invite list instead of Hollywood Idiot Commies.
Umm, His first was in 1957 which would have been for Ike's second term.

Obama had his second inaugural on Jan. 21, 2013.
Maybe they can get Vin Scully, I hear quit his last gig.
Say what?
I read George Washington's SECOND inaugural address the other day.
So yeah, we have been having them for that long.
They really don't teach US Government any more do they.
I hate when seniors dont recognize its time to give someone else a turn.<<<<<
Sometimes seniors need to feel like they’re still good at (something) what they do.
I wonder why he was passed over? Has he begun to sound bad? Maybe there’s something planned in his honor???
I think Trump is a gracious man.
But he also has a long memory for people who cross him. (From what I’ve read).
I would love to know, as well, what happened.
