Police have responded to a shooting inside Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport Friday afternoon.
Details have not been confirmed by police, but early reports indicate as many as seven people were shot. Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, who was traveling from the airport, tweeted out following the incident:
That’s stupid as it still doesn’t stop someone from walking into the airport and shooting.
No, but a heavily armed security presence in baggage claim areas might.
The flight was Anchorage, stop in Minneapolis, to FT Lauderdale.

If he’s Hispanic, he may be of Dominican descent. By his face, he’s unlikely to be Mexican and probably not even Cuban (since they are generally very white or very black). Dominicans are more mixed, and of course there are other places in the Caribbean that the family could have come from.
But the “I’m not a Jew” remark is a little puzzling, to put it mildly.

I question whether the “I’m not a Jew” remark was fog of war, or even a possible victim who somehow thought he was targeting jews. I had also heard his weapon was a bolt action rifle from one witness. Things get crazy in heat of the moment.
It just goes to show that if you are willing to die, you can murder just about anyone.
