‘Untapped Energy:’ Trump Promises A $50 Trillion Economic Stimulus
The Daily Caller ^ | September 23, 2016 | Michael Bastasch

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump laid out his energy plan to industry experts Thursday that included policies to unleash $50 trillion from “untapped” oil, natural gas and coal reserves.

Trump said “untapped energy — some $50 trillion in shale energy, oil reserves and natural gas on federal lands, in addition to hundreds of years of coal energy reserves,” according to The Wall Street Journal report on the candidate’s speech at an energy summit in Pittsburgh, Penn.

It’s all part of Trump’s plan to boost lagging energy production on federal lands. Trump said he would open up all federal lands to drilling, mining and even renewable energy — that includes opening more offshore areas to energy production.

Trump also told energy industry executives and insiders he would repel “all unnecessary regulations, and a temporary moratorium on new regulations not compelled by Congress or public safety.”(continued)

It’s great we’re going to have freedom to produce energy, but we have to be real. If we went full bore we would drive the price down to nothing.

“If we went full bore we would drive the price down to nothing.”

I’m not sure that’s a bad thing for us. Energy is necessary in order to live. So is air and water... They are both free and so far that’s worked out OK.

It’s like being in the service when it went from Carter to Reagan. Boy, did things change in a hurry!

Most of the cost of imported oil is accounted for in having to defend the countries who produce it.

Letting the Saudis play to the tune the Israelis were fiddling would be a welcome change.

Market forces should ultimately dictate the price. If ti causes the collapse of the OPEC cartel, who’s gonna cry?

If we drove down the price to nothing we could use that money to develop other things.

I did not read the whole article since I am shy about getting on some of these pop up infected sites.

But 50 trill? Over how long?

But, I am ALL FOR IT! Figure this aside from that. Take around 5 million acres and times it by an average of $500 an acre and that is about what the forest products industry would contribute to the coffers of the federal government through Timber sales per year. But, 20% of that is by LAW, to go to local school districts, which hasnt been done since the USFS now runs in the red. And 5 miilion acres released for sustainable forestry practices is a very low number.

The dept of interior is a eco freaks paradise. Around 1990 they used to be self sustaining. Then the GHW Bushites got in and after, Clintoons, and they loaded the agency with eco freaks and virtually stopped logging on federal lands.

In the districts I am familiar with, they used to run those offices with 5 to 6 people. Now you go in and there are people crawling over the top of each other to get to the coffee pot to discuss what they wont be doing that day. The SOBs whined because they had 6 sales to administer for one district with 40 people in the office.

At the State DNR office (MI), they had 4 foresters who handled 6 sales each and would put out an additional 8 to 10 sales each in the next year and a half. That meant the forester ran the boundry lines, had to mark it if it was a select cut, did the cruise and paperwork, and put it out on bids. There were a total of 8 people in that office.

Drill, mine, log, farm, ranch, harvest water, dam ... lots of shovel ready, blue collar type jobs in those projects. Especially pipeline and oil development stuff that was in progress before Obama squashed it.
