I did not read the whole article since I am shy about getting on some of these pop up infected sites.
But 50 trill? Over how long?
But, I am ALL FOR IT! Figure this aside from that. Take around 5 million acres and times it by an average of $500 an acre and that is about what the forest products industry would contribute to the coffers of the federal government through Timber sales per year. But, 20% of that is by LAW, to go to local school districts, which hasnt been done since the USFS now runs in the red. And 5 miilion acres released for sustainable forestry practices is a very low number.
The dept of interior is a eco freaks paradise. Around 1990 they used to be self sustaining. Then the GHW Bushites got in and after, Clintoons, and they loaded the agency with eco freaks and virtually stopped logging on federal lands.
In the districts I am familiar with, they used to run those offices with 5 to 6 people. Now you go in and there are people crawling over the top of each other to get to the coffee pot to discuss what they wont be doing that day. The SOBs whined because they had 6 sales to administer for one district with 40 people in the office.
At the State DNR office (MI), they had 4 foresters who handled 6 sales each and would put out an additional 8 to 10 sales each in the next year and a half. That meant the forester ran the boundry lines, had to mark it if it was a select cut, did the cruise and paperwork, and put it out on bids. There were a total of 8 people in that office.
sell the federal land
sell the interstates
Something has to be set aside for forest fires people.
It would have to be going into the development of refineries. You know the ones that the democrats claim take so long to build every time we have an oil crisis.
This would be a great step towards energy security for our nation and in one of the leading needs we have for infrastructure. Forget the roads and bridges...democrat baloney. Coal, oil, gas, electrical grid...now that is the kind of infrastructure investment we can support.
