Two weeks ago I published an open letter here to a long-time, long-distance friend after I learned she had voted for Donald Trump. I stated that I realized I never really knew her, that I couldnt fall back on the thought that she lived in the Rust Belt and experienced economic anxiety (she doesnt, and surely isnt) and that Im just being honest when I say we can no longer be friends.
There was a lot of response on social media and elsewhere, most of it positive, much of it from people in far more difficult situations ― people who opposed Trump and were struggling with relationships theyve had with parents, siblings, children or closer friends who voted for Trump. Many expressed how the letter articulated thoughts similar to their own, no matter how differently (or similarly) they may navigate this in their own lives.

Post of the day! Bwahahaha
It’s fun to jump in as a liberal and attack another as being less of a liberal than you are! OMG the infighting begins. LOL!
Liberals are just plain nuts... and the ultra-gay ones like this poofer are completely over the top crazy.
If someone you know willingly and knowingly voted for the inherently dishonest, shamelessly corrupt, pro abortion, sloppy and impaired Hillary Clinton, would you really trust them in any matter of importance or want anything more that the most superficial relationship? Pretty much write off anyone who states they voted for either Clinton.
.
Ya gotta love it when lifetime losers confess in public for all to see.
.
These pukes are going to attempt a violent, commie coup in the next few years, and we’re just going to have to kill them when we’re drafted into CW II to put down the rebels anyway, so it’s probably best to disassociate with them now.
MESSAGE for Michelangelo Signorile:
You are a digrace to your namesake.
Change you first name at once.
I won’t give these people the satisfaction of a response. I ignore them. If they send any sort of inquiry to me directly, I ignore it.
They’re all commies to me. They all spring from the same Marxist/communist cesspit regurgitating the same godless totalitarian excrement.
Cut the Puritans some slack. They went on a perilous journey to establish their religion somewhere it would not incommode any other Christians. If you were in Christendom and you didnt want to be a Puritan, it was only necessary that you not sail to Massachusetts Colony.Which is a lot more than you can say about the ability of Puritans to practice their religion anywhere in the Eastern Hemisphere.
I’d rather not have this kind of person in my life. Good riddance.
YMMV
What a bunch of self absorbed losers. They don’t do it silently, they write and let the whole world know just how awful they are.
Yes, the Huff has become worse than ever and is now simply a hate site. I refuse to give them any hits any more.
Michelangelo Signorileis a pipe smoker...
Actually, there are a few brave Trump supporters replying on that thread. Of course, the gang of Left are attacking them, but they are brave to at least bring some logic and reason to these people.
I notice the ones that say they don’t know any or want to know any Trump supporters are mostly from California—the Bay area or Southern California—as if they knew anyone who voted for Trump there. They’re happy living in the hive obeying and dying for the Queen bee. Every characterization of a Trump voter is pure fantasy. A cartoon of what they HOPE is true.
We should be sympathetic. Michelangelo Has given up a lot, here...
He had a stump-dumb Midwest hayseed “friend”, about which she could tell amusing stories with his coastal elite friends. He was able to make himself seem worldly and tolerant, while simultaneously displaying his superior intellect and moral correctness in sharp relief.
That’s a lot to give up over an election. We should respect his sacrifice.
Maybe hillary will resurrect....her tired candidacy
There’s some joy for the world
These snowflakes are so full of crap! The election is about anyone's rights as a gay or a woman being threatened.
It is about the wholesale sell-out of anything important to America being a country.
Frankly, I don't care about your "values." Do you work hard and provide for yourself and your dependents and pay your own way, or do you expect to tell me how I must live and make me pay for all the people you want to be dependent upon me, whether I chose them for my family or not.
It's about a US government that take enormous quantities of tax-payer money and uses it to reward cronies and insiders.
How many of these relationships would have been shredded had the election gone the other way? I think the Trump supporters who have been dumped are FAR better off now, knowing the nature of people they thought they were friends with beforehand.
(we are struggling to maintain civility with two of our Hillary-supporting adult children ... not too sure the ‘adult’ applies, tho)
