Cut the Puritans some slack. They went on a perilous journey to establish their religion somewhere it would not incommode any other Christians. If you were in Christendom and you didn’t want to be a Puritan, it was only necessary that you not sail to Massachusetts Colony.Which is a lot more than you can say about the ability of Puritans to practice their religion anywhere in the Eastern Hemisphere.
They only hanged other Puritans as witches, so I guess they weren’t all bad.
