Islamist terrorism is the biggest challenge facing Germany, Chancellor Angela Merkel has said in her New Year message. Referring to the deadly truck attack in Berlin by a Tunisian asylum seeker, she said it was "sickening" when acts of terror were carried out by people who had sought protection.
She said 2016 had been a year of "severe tests". But she also said she was confident Germany could overcome them.
"As we go about our lives and our work, we are saying to the terrorists: 'You are hate-filled murderers, but you do not determine how we live and want to live. We are free, considerate and open'," Mrs Merkel said.

Mrs. Merkel is playing with fire. Germans have been dreaming in the clouds for decades. But they are becoming restless. If they awaken there is every chance they will come down from the clouds with Thor's hammer in their hands.
She’s trying to do a ju-jitsu move, she’s trying to turn the force of the anger against her around.
She’s basically saying “yes, Muslim immigrants are murdering us, yes, Muslim immigrants are raping us, and we’re sorry for that, but each murder victim and each rape victim is actually a symbol of our strength as Germans, a demonstration of how wonderful we are as a people.”

She knows she’s screwed up terribly. She knows she’s made a mistake as horrible, as historically foolish, as any made by any leader since Operation Barbarossa.
Now she’s just trying to rescue her image in history. She’s decided to play it as the “idealist who meant well but who misunderstood the forces she was dealing with” or some such.

It doesn’t matter what she admits. White Europeans will not take up for themselves even if it actually kills them, which it will.
