The United States on Thursday expelled 35 Russian diplomats and closed two Russian compounds in New York and Maryland in response to a campaign of harassment by Russia against American diplomats in Moscow, a senior U.S. official said on Thursday.

The U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters the Russian diplomats would be given 72 hours to leave the United States. Access to the two compounds will be denied to all Russian officials as of noon on Friday, the official added.

"These actions were taken to respond to Russian harassment of American diplomats and actions by the diplomats that we have assessed to be not consistent with diplomatic practice," the official told Reuters.

I’m not siding with Obama. In time, you’ll be siding with me and so will President Trump perforce. That is, unless you’ll always side with Russia and not American interest and principles.

Well, if me acknowledging that sometimes our goals are not incompatible with Russia and we can cooperate when cooperation is appropriate gives you the right to question my patriotism, I think your preference for Mexican over English when choosing a screen name gives me the right to question yours. Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it, little mr. man.

If Japan were ruled by a “former” Kempeitai officer, you might have the beginnings of a point. It isn’t, so you don’t.

Can you form an intelligent reply or can you only make snarky, middle school masturbation references?

This was my response to you:

He’ll reopen them and tell the naysayers to go play with themselves.
They’re never going to love him anyway.
They made themselves irrelevant.

I addressed a group of people here.  "They can go off and play with themselves."  They have no power these days, so they can play in their own circles bouncing absurdity after absurdity off each other.

Do I mind the masturbation reference?  Not really.  What are these folks doing by buying into the "Russia stole the election" story, with absolutely no proof.  That's called mental masturbation.  You know, like accusing a fellow FReeper of doing something you concocted in your own mind.

You ignored the sound response.  The people on the Left and those in the Republican party who reject Trump based on reopening the Russian venues will never support him.  Who cares about them?

You think McCain, Graham, other Leftist Republicans and the Democrat party were considering working with Trump?  LMAO

Diplomacy is about deal-making. This puts PE Trump in a disadvantaged position, at least in the short term.

This comment makes you look silly and you know it does.  People either agree with Trump or they don't.  Somehow you have come up with the idea that those who don't would suddenly change their mind if Trump only kept the Russian entities closed.

Patently Absurd!

If he doesn’t reverse the sanctions he is all but admitting they were justified.

You really have a lot to worry about don't you.  Grasp this.  If he reopens them, he will have committed a cardinal sin.  If he agrees to keep them shut, the very same people will say he committed a cardinal sin.

This being the case, you do whatever you think is best, and let the idiots who aren't happy about it, go play with themselves.

If he does reverse the sanctions he risks appearing to not place faith in the intelligence agencies he has to rely on to provide him with assessment of what is going on around the world and what threats the US faces short and long term.

Those intelligence agencies have offered no proof, and are squabbling within their own ranks about the validity of the charge Russia interfered in our elections.  Meanwhile Obama sends another team to Israel to interfere in their elections  (OPENLY!)  again!  They did it in Great Britain as well.

He could also come off as not caring if our diplomats are harassed by the governments, and operatives of those governments, in the nations where they serve.

Those folks you were postulating Trump would be able to make deals with if he didn't reopen those entities, they'll be making unsubstantiated charges no matter what Trump does.  It's embarrassing to watch you miss that again.

It’s called Spanish. It’s a major world language. It may be that you’re a rube if you think that’s a clever insult.

I just deal in facts. If the facts change, I’ll change my mind. You, on the other hand, are like Neville Chamberlain or Barak Obama, dealing in wishful thinking about a despot.

In your mind, Russia is the victim.

Sweden has sent its submarines into Russia's territorial water. Ireland has had its war planes buzzing into Russia's airspace. British war planes are buzzing into Russian airspace. Ukraine is waging an undeclared war with Ukrainian soldiers on Russian territory causing death and destruction in Russia. Ukraine has stacked up a large army on Russia's border poised to intimidate and invade sacred Mother Russia. Ukraine took a large chunk of Russian territory despite a treaty they’d signed to respect Russia’s territory. Lithuania moved nuclear weapons to threaten Kaliningrad. Georgia invaded Russia to support Georgian separatists. Syrians are indiscriminately bombing Russians cities killing Russians in their hospitals and in their markets. Turkish planes are flying over Russian airspace. The USA has its hackers hacking Putin's secret bank accounts and releasing it to the public through Wikileaks. Yeah, Russia is a victim of many aggressive acts in your upside down, Neville Chamberlain world.

Thanks for your comment. However, I will continue to support the USA, limited government, low taxes, freedom, self-determination, and freedom. You can cheer for Putin, if you so wish.

No, I’m a man who believes we’re all one in Christ. So if you think slamming me for speaking Spanish, which I do not, makes you superior, well then fine. I wish you best and hope that it only means you’re from the backwoods. Please consider the Lords guidance on how we should treat other people.

If you’re slamming me for thinking that there is nothing wrong with cooperating with Russia on the occasions where they have the same goals— such as fighting radical Islam— and when it is appropriate, you don’t really believe we are “all one in Christ”

You say this after you implied I speak Spanish and wasn’t a true American, right? You allegiance to Putin will prove futile. I hope you find comfort in your faith in him, but as for me I will serve the Lord.

No, you better look back at our exchanges. This started with you playing “I’m the only real Patriot here.” Okay, so you want to go to war with Putin, is that what it is? You’re with Obama on this? Anyone who doesn’t want to go to war with Putin isn’t a real patriot in your eyes? Hey, this is good to know. I like knowing exactly what category to put people in, and yours is clear.

You put quotation marks around your comment quoting me. What post did I right that in? I’m sure you’d not make this quote up. I’m sure you’re not implying words I didn’t write so you could argue against something I didn’t write. So where did I write that? What post?

Comment #198, When Putin collides with Trump, I hope you choose America and Trump over Putin.

That was out of line and an uncalled for slur on my patriotism. You don't know me at all, buddy, and you really blew it there. I think you owe me an apology. I said nothing that deserved that, and if you had a shred of decency you'd admit it.

No, I don’t owe you an apology at all. Buddy, that’s not the quote you said at all. So you, buddy, owe me an apology. You lied. And for all I know, it’s a very good question. I guarantee you they will collide. Who will you support?
