I’m from New York City and all the same I’d rather that they depend on the electoral votes and not California and New York voters :)

California & New York State are overwhelmed with “Democrat” illegal voting. In fact....I’m willing to bet that Trump won Nevada, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Virginia...if you deduct the illegals that voted for Hillary Clinton. Democrat Party is imploded and the fools Democrats do not have a clue!!!

“How fitting, Trump would have won the popular vote if not for the sanctuary states of NY and Cal.”

Even more...Trump would have won the popular vote if not for the cities of Los Angeles and New York City.

And don’t even start on the illegals voting in Motor Voter California...that alone would have changed the popular vote. But we must allow Mexico to meddle in American elections.

by 2.8 million votes

And approx. 1.7 million of that winning margin came out of

Conservative and independent voters in NY IL and CA are disenfranchised and many do not bother to vote. But you will never hear about them in the MSM.

Yes. It’s the United States as in a federation of States, thus a Federal government and not a National government.

When enough states that add up to 270 EVs are organized under the pact to vote for the national popular vote winner, the Electoral College will be neutralized. And my reading of Article II is that state legislatures are empowered to decide how the state’s EVs are cast. I think enough legislatures to provide 190 EVs has passed legislation signing on to this agreement.

CA is a perfect example of if you can control the media, you can control the message. Back in 2010, I asked some of my friends if they were following the “Tea Party” movement. They all said: “What the heck is that?” Because the MSM in CA refused to cover it.

i live in Cal, and this has not been my experience... Californians i know, who are not Conservative, see the Tea Party as a racist, anti-immigrant, anti-female political group of dangerous devils... but i do have to say, these people--mainly my family members--are into politics... and they follow the biased MSM...

Maybe break those states apart? Rural CA, downstate IL and upstate NY all went for Trump.

But remember, many of the threats to our nation, including to our Constitution, will be gone once the swamp is drained.

I can't tell you how many times I've had to post the link to the Schoolhouse Rock song explaining the Electoral College to liberals on social media.

The popular vote is not relevant, and for good reason.

6.8% of the population of California consists of illegal aliens.

The idea that it is representative of the electorate, or should determine who becomes POTUS, is absurd.

“...Conservative and independent voters in NY ... disenfranchised...”

That is correct. Upstate NY is (mostly) conservative - minus hippie valley in Ithaca and some areas around Rochester - and is ALWAYS disenfranchised by NYC.

This is inherently unfair - the whole country would be experiencing the same disenfranchisement that upstate New Yorkers have to deal with if it weren’t for the electoral college. The founders realized this.

Although I always vote out of a sense of duty, many of my daughter’s conservative relatives (in laws) in rural Otsego county don’t register because they have become discouraged over the years by always being outvoted by NYC.

The states’ electoral votes ought to be awarded in a proportional split within the state.

In short, subtract out California and four of the five boroughs of New York City and Trump wins going away in the popular vote. That’s something the people who want to do away from the Electoral College conveniently ignore.

I don’t think she won the popular vote.

She won PV ==== FAKE NEWS.

If they dig into the fraud, which they won’t it will be reviled that she lost that too, but it’s a waste of time for Trump to pursue.

As has been noted elsewhere but is worth repeating Donald Trump would have campaigned differently if it was about only the popular vote. He would have held rallies the length and breath of California and New York and even if he did not win the majority of votes in those areas he would have significantly increased his vote and conversely reduced Mrs Clinton vote. Donald Trump would have won the popular vote if that was how it was set up before the election.

A second point is of course that you can't be 100% in favour of an electoral college, as the Democrats were, and then do a 100 degree about face and demand a rerun under a different set of rules.

Absolutely correct. I would go further...form new united states with all the red counties...the blue counties total mass is very small..then they can have all the socialism they want
