Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis will seek the support... to protect county residents from changes in federal immigration policy in light of President-elect Trumps illegal immigration statements.... " we are standing with them and that we will do what we can to provide security and safety....
... people have been very disturbed, very distraught, in particular our most vulnerable, our children, Solis said. Our young children who are thinking, `Mom, are you going to get deported because youre not here legally and I was born here? Whats going to happen to me? Whats going to happen to us?
Solis will ask that county staffers analyze all services provided to immigrants and how changes in federal funding could impact those programs. Shed also like to consider a permanent Office of Immigrant Affairs and wants to explore the countys authority to prevent federal immigration enforcement at courts, schools and hospitals.
I would hate to see us claw back some of the reforms that we made with law enforcement as a result of getting rid of 287g (an agreement that had sheriffs deputies enforcing immigration law) and also providing more of a buffer between ICE agents and their ability to come into our jails,.[snip]
Under DACA, children brought to the US before age 16 can apply for work permits and live without the threat of deportation. The Center for American Progress estimated deporting DACA workers could create a $433.4 billion loss in national GDP over a decade.....
Obama took executive action to expand DACA for parents - the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents. Those moves have been blocked by lawsuits that went as far as the U.S. Supreme Court, a 4-4 vote sent the matter back to the lower court. Trump has promised to terminate both programs.

They aren’t our children and they don’t givery a DAMN for this nation except for what they can TAKE from it.
Deport them all.
Any accommodation for any illegal alien will make it that much harder to deport ANY illegal aliens.
Amnesty in 1986 was a YUGE mistake, it resulted in 10 times the number of illegal aliens and a general disrespect for our laws.
Excellent point.
“Don’t mess with the kiddos who are the considered the dreamers. They are American citizens as defined by the 14th amendment.”
NO they aren’t! If they came here illegally at 2 days old they are just illegals with no citizenship rights at all!
It makes you wonder how much they really cost us over the long-run.
First year cost ...
- $30k per head on the South of the border folks
- up to $62K for the Syrians and Somalians when they handle the whole process.
How much more does it cost us over their life time?
- Healthcare
- Education
- housing
- welfare
- cost due to the added security risks
- prisons
- judicial system
- government provided interpreters
- law enforcement, crime
- earned income tax credits
Doesn’t seem like such a great deal for tax payers.
If they come here, they should be cleared and be able to support themselves. Otherwise, they should keep out.
Illegal aliens may not join the military.
Dreamers are not anchor babies. The DREAM Act never passed Congress and is not an Act. It was directed at so-called childhood arrivals. Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals was Obama’s illegal action to defer their deportation.
There should be no new laws passed to accommodate illegal aliens. No registration for a free pass.
Enforce current law. Deport the criminals first.
Make it known that under the law if we have to deport you it will be 10 years before you can apply for proper entry.
Cut off employment with e-verify for every job.
Cut of benefits, illegal aliens are not entitled to any.
Previously deported are already subject to prison time.
Enforce current law.
Trump has only committed to deporting the criminals, 2-3 million, 10%
People here illegally should be deported. Period. If they have children who were born here, they'd be allowed to take them home with them because, after all, they are their children. Their U.S. citizen children are welcome at any time. If they choose to abandon their U.S. citizen children here, we'd take care of them of course, and we won't kidnap their children, i.e., force the children to stay but deport the illegals. Either way, the choice is theirs but the illegals have got to go home.
I'd give them 90 days to clear out voluntarily. If they're caught here after that, they can stay for an extra year-in prison plus a fine of $1000 for every year they were here illegally, and they'd be permanently banned from even visiting for the rest of their lives.
“They are always going on about children.”
If they gave so much as a single chit about children they wouldn’t be murdering them by the millions in liberal supported abortion clinics all over the US. They can take that “what about the children phrase” and shove it up their arse.
Illegal aliens are barred from enlisting. It would be a really bad idea to fill our military with foreigners who hate us.
Dreamers are those born elsewhere and invaded prior to adulthood - many quite young. But they are NOT American citizens.
“Mom are we going to get deported because you broke the law and committed a felony in a foreign country and thought you’d get away with it. “
Don’t dare deport our voters.
Pray America woke
The Mexican Constitution itself says that any child of a Mexican parent is of Mexican nationality and citizenship, REGARDLESS of nation of birth. Chapter II, Article 30, paragraph II
https://www.oas.org/juridico/mla/en/mex/en_mex-int-text-const.pdf
The anchor baby business is nonsense and in violation of Mexican law.
Go read it.
“All he has to do is enforce present immigration law and heavily fine employers.”
Precisely. Ever since Bush II was itching to sign “comprehensive immigration reform” legislation back in 2006 we have known that what uniparty has always wanted was 1986 redux: another general legislative amnesty. (SEE Rubio & Cruz hitching his wagon to Trump)
We’ve seen how that amnesty worked out. Three million (?) `forgiven’ thirty years ago. Well, there are a lot more than 11 million illegal squatters now. If we kick this can down the road again, how many millions to deal with in 2046?
DACA was Obama’s illegal `executive action’ end-run around federal immigration law. He swore an oath to enforce the law, but he has been scoff-law-in-chief.
No amnesty. Toss out DACA. DREAMers is just another stupid uniparty euphemism/acronym.
As you say, all we have to do is enforce our immigration laws. We have the law and facts on our side, while the left has pathos and tears, particularly crocodile tears, dry quickly.
Border jumpers, criminals, socialist products yearning to live free and other cast-offs taught to lie about needing `political asylum’: send them home.
Anchor babies? They can stay with their parents. No? Then foster care or adoption. Tough love, it takes a pueblo ....
Fine lawbreakers, as you say, from businesses to homeowners too lazy to mow their own lawns and make their own beds.
`California’ wants to leave? Land isn’t going anywhere. Californians unhappy with national sovereignty can go north, as they threatened to do, or south, back to their home countries.
Thanks to Donald Trump we’ve got another chance. Let’s not blow it. As he says, echoing us here on FR, we’re either a country or we aren’t.
I don’t know if it’s strictly federal dollars & law or not, but I know for a fact that the gov’t cannot use tax dollars to defend over selected civil matters. This is because it would require gov’t to fund legal representation for a host civil matters.
It is not legal to use taxpayer dollars to defend illegal aliens from deportation, while depriving citizens of taxpayer dollars to defend from other civil matters. What I do not know is if this means only federal dollars or covers all tax dollars.
It is possible that this may have to be set up as some sort of charity, which is legal.
Lawyers?
I’ve got a better idea, how about they all leave and apply for visas in their own country. That’s what I and millions of others did. If you reward law breaking, you get more of it.
I believe you. This business of foreign nationals having their children granted automatic U.S. citizenship just because they drop the baby on our soil must be brought to an end, it is a perversion of the 14th Amendment.
CALexit is the best solution
