Cumulus Media has struck a deal with iHeartMedia subsidiary Premiere Networks to renew and extend its affiliation agreement with The Rush Limbaugh Show. Already in its 28th year of national syndication, the program will continue to air on 33 Cumulus stations through 2019.
Limbaugh has been recognized by the National Association of Broadcasters with five Marconi Awards for Syndicated Radio Personality of the Year, and he was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1993, the NAB Hall of Fame in 1998 and the Hall of Famous Missourians in 2012.
In the last year, according to Nielsen Audio, The Rush Limbaugh Show experienced combined audience growth of +49% with persons 12+ and +23% with adults 2554 on Cumulus-owned stations in WLS(AM) Chicago; WJR(AM) Detroit; WMAL(FM), Washington; WBAP(AM) Dallas; and KSFO(AM) San Francisco.
Also, according to Nielsen Audio, in 2016 nationwide, the show experienced year-over-year audience growth with persons 12+ (+21%), adults 2554 (+13%), adults 1834 (+12%) and women 2554 (+17%).
From continued ad sales growth and increased audience levels, to unparalleled audience connection, having an iconic talent like Rush in a station lineup drives valuable opportunities for advertisers and strategic partners, said Premiere Networks President Julie Talbott.
I wish Rush would use more of the Paul Shanklin songs. They are so funny.
Yes I wish he would revert to the humor-based format he used in the 80’s and 90’s and not the current format of monologue, bloviate, pitch books, sell tea, bloviate some more, take two calls and then finish with a commentary segment that is actually a live-read ad.
Well, I guess we should be thankful that at least he doesn’t talk about himself...
But...but...but I heard from the Liberal media that Rush’s show was “tanking”....
That must have been FAKE NEWS.
Well, I guess we should be thankful that at least he doesnt talk about himself...
You are fungi. I LOL’d
Hehe
As a talk radio junkie, I have a hard time listening to Rush now. His show is hard to take even for a few minutes.
I disagree. One a day would be great.
He was doing four or five a day for a while in the ‘90s, sometimes two in a row with a “twinspin”.
Yay, the Rush Limbaugh parade of endless commericials continues! ;/
Call into Rush’s show this month and if you get to talk to him you get a free iPhone.
I know... I really miss those. He said years ago he doesn't use them as much anymore because he is deaf. Well... no offense, Rush, but most of your listeners are not deaf, and would *really* would like to hear Shanklin's clever songs.
Ping to fellow Rush listeners...
True. Same with Howie Carr (New England conservative talk show host). Love Howie, Rush, Hannity (Levin, not so much anymore after this election season), but the numerous annoying, loud commercials are so bad that I often turn the radio off, and forget to turn it back on.
I loved Paul Shanklin's dittys...then the guy got famous and his parodies and music became over-produced like songs from Broadway, and the charm was gone..... some were even unintelligible as to lyrics. They stunk.
I still hum the oldie, goldie, simple-but-effective, remember-able ones like "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iraq".
