You just knew this was coming… Republican leader Mitch McConnell warned today he will not pass Donald Trump’s tax cuts.
Senate Majority Leader McConnell has a different plan. Bloomberg.com reported:
President-elect Donald Trump’s race to enact the biggest tax cuts since the 1980s went under a caution flag Monday as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell warned he considers current levels of U.S. debt “dangerous” and said he wants any tax overhaul to avoid adding to the deficit.
“I think this level of national debt is dangerous and unacceptable,” McConnell said, adding he hopes Congress doesn’t lose sight of that when it acts next year. “My preference on tax reform is that it be revenue neutral,” he said.

The art of the deal. Trump makes his offer and they make theirs. Odds are it’ll come out declared as a win/win with Trump clearly in command.

If we repeal Obamacare, secure the border, and start deporting large numbers of illegals (all three), I’m okay with a delay in the tax cuts. More has to be done, but that alone would be an excellent start.
Then President Trump would have to work on rolling back the lost freedoms of the past few decades, and rolling back the size of the federal government. And then the tax cuts.
Mitch is putting up this fight so he can tell his Ruling Class buddies that he at least tried to stop Trump. But in the end, he's going to negotiate with Trump and Trump is going to get the best deal out of it.
Don't worry about this - let's wait until Trump gets safely inaugurated first before worrying about policy.
