Colin Kaepernick's parents respond to 'over the top' criticism from admiral

After standing by proudly but quietly as their son continued to protest the national anthem and draw intense criticism, the parents of Colin Kaepernick finally decided to talk about his decision and beliefs.

"Colin is carrying a heavy load and following a difficult path that he truly believes in. He is putting his entire future and possibly his life on the line for those beliefs," Teresa and Rick Kaepernick wrote in a statement released to The Undefeated. "As his parents, it pains us to read articles and tweets saying that his family does not support him; this could not be further from the truth. We want people to know that we are very proud of our son and admire his strength and courage in kneeling for the rights of others."

Earlier in the season, Teresa Kaepernick had said that "it's not in our best interest or Colin's best interest" to comment, but that was before virtually everyone had weighed in and Kaepernick had received death threats for taking a knee during "The Star-Spangled Banner" in an effort to protest police brutality.

So parents should support and agree with an adult child who is making a statement against their country as a whole and which is helping to divide the citizens of the country? The division has recently cost police officers and innocent citizens their lives, but the parents should encourage their son’s unpatriotic “freedom of speech” action to continue anyway?

I would think any agitator’s families who know right from wrong would side with being right not join the wrong. What you say is ok is akin to other families who’s children join ISIS or such acts against the unity and health of the USofA. Colin’s approach is just more subtle but just as vicious and deadly.

Is a group of people in a country more important than the country as a whole?

Our founders fought for this country created by and blessed by God, at loss to and of their families and property and other self desires or livelihood interests.

Jesus and the bible teach us to stand for what is right (in God’s word) not just what our mind tells us to believe. Minds can be easily deceived.

I have relatives raising adopted children of another race and doing the same foolish things as the Kapernick’s. Racial groups mean nothing to God so Colin is in the wrong. Many whites and blacks perpetuate the issue due to their own twisted emotion based thinking and reasoning. God’s family is made up of any and all who choose to join Him. He doesn’t look at skin color or past deeds or education levels, where you were born or grew up, etc

see my post 41

I don’t agree that you “protect a child” who is doing same as children of other USA families who have worked to threaten the unity and country as a whole. Colin is just using a more subtle method of threat toward country and citizens of USofA then bombers etc.

His parents are being weak by supporting him in his stand against our founders and us current citizens and inviting more innocent hurt and death by those who admire Colin’s “free speech action” and take it to the street. Agitators should be held accountable, but we selectively prosecute them, and let Ayers and others off the hook.

They need to form a support group with the parents of Bowe Bergdahl and talk to one another, not to the rest of us. We are not proud of your sons. They remind me of the kind of people who let their dogs crap on other people’s lawns and become incensed if the other people don’t like it.

you are correct.

The owner of the San Francisco 49ers NFL football team is Denise Debartolo York.

The immediately preceding sentence is off Wiki. So, apparently Jed and his mom have the stroke to stop Kaepernick if they wanted to. I imagine they are as liberal as he is and not too smart since they both inherited what they have.
