Agreed.
The phrase “I AM SPARTACUS!” is not in Howard Fast’s book. It, along with the Tony Curtis character were added to the script by Dalton Trumbo.
I thought a lot of Mr. Douglas until I read and heard the accusations of him raping Natalie Wood when she was 16. I understand that Natalie’s family is not going public with the evidence until after Mr. Douglas passes. Its a sad and credible accusation.
Notable for being Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first major movie role.
Free to watch on youtube.
“There Was a Crooked Man (1970)” was one of his best movies, but is seldom mentioned.

Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (as Doc Holliday):
Last Train From Gun Hill:
Wrote Michael off when he did that Liberace movie.
Happy Birthday, Mr. Douglas.
Actors who will own these parts forever:
Charlton Heston - Moses
Yul Brenner - Ramses the Great
Kirk Douglas - Spartacus
So let it be written...so let it be done.
RE: Yul Brenner - Ramses the Great
For me: Yul Brenner - King Mongkut in the King and I
Paths Of Glory is a great movie. I have Ace In The Hole on the hard drive. I really enjoyed that movie as well.
I liked it as well.
” until I read and heard the accusations of him raping Natalie Wood”
“The book controversially reveals Wood’s “rape” at the age of 16 by a man who Finstad will only identify as a “powerful, married movie star”.

So...years after Natalie Wood died, a book “reveals” she was raped at 16 by someone famous. No evidence offered. No names. In what sense is that a “credible accusation” that Kirk Douglas raped her?
The Villain was indeed a blast. The earliest one I remember him in was Disney’s original Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea.
With the guy from Life of Reilly, i think :)
