One Kansas City Royals fan feels like she is being punished for the good deed of others.
Joyce Jeter has a debilitating medical condition, causing her to rely on Social Security as her only source of income. Royals fans rallied around her to raise money to send her to a game at Kauffman Stadium, but now that gift is leaving her financial future in jeopardy.
Joyce told Fox4KC she feels like she's being robbed all because she accepted a gift.
she is apparently on SSI disability which has a means (income) test
Let no good deed go un-punished.
That’s despicable, considering there are so many who abuse the system by getting their kids labeled as “learning disabled” in order to cash in.
White woman amputee, in constant pain, with a genuine disability who legitimately cannot work, might have known.
Probably a Christian, too.
No good deed
“White woman...Probably a Christian, too...”
Exactly so. I suspect if she were a lesbian with two adopted children and an atheist running a child prostitution ring, she’d probably get a bump in her SSI payments and Obama would award her the Medal of Freedom in the Rose Garden. And then after her award ceremony, she’d be the guest of honor on Orca and Ellen Degenerate’s talk shows.
This sh!t really pisses me off.
This stinks! They should be going after fakers who scam Social Security Disability when they are actually able bodied.
This is a clear gift under IRS rules, not income. There is no way this should be included in a means test for income.
I can testify to that -— multiple times.
In a few cases, went the other way.
But generally, that seems to be the norm.
the program is crazy on how it is administerd. I am on disability but because I had paid into retirement I don’t rely on the program that she does. years ago because I was trying to work and not get social security I ended up with an over payment that I rightfully had to pay back to the program. they started to take 50 dollars a month out of my check and did that for the next 10 years. I then qualified for the program that this lady is having her money taken away from and suddenly I was getting 110 a month because according to there rules I was not getting enough SSi so the ssdi started to pay out. this lasted 10 years till I had paid back the over payment at witch time it stopped and because it had paid out one time to many after I was no suppose to pay out I had to pay that money back this lasted just two months and no it all paid back.....the part that I find crazy is that I was getting more money from the combination of the two programs when I owed social security money...
this lady needs to make an appointment to talk to social security in person because this looks to be a case of some one pushing the numbers on documents not examining what actually happen....if that does not work who ever is your federal rep in congress can look into it if it is not being handld correctly by social security.
If funds showed up in her account, they may have triggered something.
I find it highly unusual for SSDI to be this hands on with a particular account unless it was a frequent thing, or the funds were very large.
‘This is a clear gift under IRS rules, not income. There is no way this should be included in a means test for income.’
So where is Lois Lerner today?
Mr Trump may start a new drilling program in the SSDI.
TWB
I agree with you.
Someone had an ax to grind within the agency or someone came in and complained that they needed to grind their ax.
I have never known (close friend worked for a welfare agency) any "feel-good" activity to trigger a change of benefits unless it was a winning of the lottery...which actually happened, and should have happened.
A gift like that is income. You have to pay taxes on the worth.
appears to be pieces missing ?
did she take all the 3700 ? to go to a ball game ?
And the sheer number of immigrants who get it after claiming various issues.
I hope this is on Trump’s radar.
This is just wrong on every level. Who reported this to SS anyway?
