President-elect Donald Trump met Monday with former Vice President Al Gore and discussed climate change, as the two men with opposing views of the issue sought common ground.
After the meeting at Trump Tower in Manhattan, Mr. Gore gave an upbeat assessment of the powwow. "I had a lengthy and very productive session with the president-elect. It was a sincere search for areas of common ground," he told reporters in the lobby.
The high-profile meeting raised eyebrows because President-elect Donald Trump has been an outspoken skeptic of climate change and Mr. Gore is one of the world's most prominent advocates for battling climate change, receiving a Nobel Prize in 2007 for the effort.
During the campaign, Mr. Trump raised doubts about the climate change issue and once mused that it was a hoax by China to encourage the U.S. to adopt energy restrictions that would harm the economy.
Mr. Trump also has said he will consider pulling the U.S. out of the international agreement on climate change that was struck in Paris in 2015.
Earlier in the day, transition team officials said Mr. Gore would be meeting with Mr. Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump. But Mr. Gore said that after a brief meeting with Ms. Trump, he spent the bulk of his time with the president-elect.
"I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I'm just going to leave it at that," said Mr. Gore, who was the 2000 Democratic presidential nominee.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Common ground?
Build MORE nuclear reactors.
You mean like when he met with the President of Mexico or, black churches or even obama?
I believe Trumps strategery is to disarm his enemies by pulling them in closer and treating them as if he takes them seriously.
All the while he goes about the business of keeping his campaign promises.
Look at the Romney overture as an example.
It looks like Trump will probably pass him over for Sec. of State. but how could Romney turn on Trump again after kissing his butt on national TV?
He can’t.
like sometimes it rains a lot....sometimes not....
I'm sure the freak gave away a few secrets. Yes, he's that dumb.
Probably needs a back rub to get through the day.
You can’t have “Common Ground” on climate change. Climate science is so incredibly complex and abstruse, with so many unknown factors involved, Gore is either correct, or he is completely and utterly wrong.
Its like shooting a space probe to land on Mars - you are either right, or you are way off. You can’t split the difference.
Did they compare jets, yachts and climate footprint size.
Both turds and Algore float....you do the math!
We need to compile data for about 5000 years to even determine whether it is really occurring.
Yup. Trump is playing this very smart.
He’s getting a lot of garbage out of the way and carefully crafting an image prior to the innaguration.
He is showing everyone — I can talk with anyone, I am civil, I am reasonable, I explore all options, I make careful and deliberative decisions, I listen to all sides, I have no enemies, I want what is best for the country.
After 3 months of that message being hammered home, President Trump will be difficult to portray as a crazy monster.
And it costs him nothing.
IOW, humans can’t stop “climate change”. Build more dams, dikes & other infrastructure to mitigate its alleged effects.
Other than that, Manbearpig and Trump have very little to talk about.
algore's interested, but is hesitant only because if he accepts, he reveals himself to be the fraud that he is.
I’ve noticed Trump brings in the opposition to see what makes them tick and hopefully they run their pieholes to give him insight to get an advantage.
Got that right! Meet with ANYONE but Algore!
IOW, there was none..lol..wonder when gores breath will be cold enough to detect a change..lol
And I noticed that they got Al Gore to say that the majority of the time was spent with “President-elect Donald Trump.” The irony . . . I just love it.
LOL! Why take Gore's word when Trump hasn't spoken about it? More likely he told Gore he's gotten rich enough off this farce.
Hey, that IS an interesting note. Very astute.
This article quotes him as saying it was “productive”.
Trump is no fool. I trust him to negotiate his way through the political landscape deftly playing libs for the fools they are.
