Green Party switches strategy in Pennsylvania recount bid

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Green Party-backed campaign changed its strategy to force a statewide recount of Pennsylvania's Nov. 8 presidential election, won by Republican Donald Trump, and said late Saturday night that it will seek help in the federal courts, rather than the state courts.

The announcement that it would seek an emergency federal court order on Monday for a recount came hours after it dropped a case in the state courts.

"Make no mistake — the Stein campaign will continue to fight for a statewide recount in Pennsylvania," recount campaign lawyer Jonathan Abady said in a statement issued around 11:30 p.m. "We are committed to this fight to protect the civil and voting rights of all Americans."

If anything goes to the SC it is 4-4 so the lower court decision will stand. The lower courts were packed with liberals after Harry Reid used the nuclear option.

Look at what they tried to do to Bush, and he never spoke about “rigged elections.”
______________________________

I recall conservatives fuming that Bush was lacking testicular fortitude by not calling the progs out, even once.

“Keeping [his] mouth shut” brought us years and years of targeted attacks on the Presidency and on Constitutionalism in general. Keeping shut enabled them and they made so much progress in eight years, we are on the brink of civil war.

What is a grown-up? Is it being submissive, essentially contributing to ones own abuse? Or is it standing up for oneself, for the core beliefs that underlie our system and speaking ‘truth to power’?

Criticizing DJT for calling attention to well-known tactics of bringing every ounce of leverage to bear against the Republic is evidence of core cowardice, IMO. We have all those Podesta emails, O’Keefe’s undercover videos and, in this specific election Dem Party stalwarts were caught on tape stuffing ballot boxes, manufacturing ballots and spoiling legitimate ballots. I believe that took place in Florida and Virginia. Registration fraud was caught in Indiana at the RICO-level.

Donald was supposed to ignore these crimes in an election where bringing our country back from the brink of globalist takeover was a key issue?

For all of my life, the right has played nice and had their heads handed to them for their trouble. When I advocated grass-roots organizing, just like the progs do, all the way down to the precinct level, back in 2000, I received pious replies to the effect that Republicans don’t do that. I suspect the Ds stole the 2012 election and I’m not alone. Donald calls out cheaters. Good for him. We aren’t playing tiddlywinks for matchsticks.

Rant not aimed at you, G_P_H. I think we agree.

Trump is more than grown up. He defeated the entire establishment & was elected president.

Perhaps the one who needs to grow up is you.

“It put the left on notice that he was watching them and would not take their vote theft lying down.”

That’s exactly why he kept repeating “rigged system”. We know they cheated, but his mentioning it may have tamped it down a bit. They’re just pissed that they realized they hadn’t cheated enough when 2:00 a.m. on Nov. 9 rolled around.

"The claim that she will take this to Federal Court is preposterous, given that courts require litigants to post bond all the time, and her refusal to do so isn't going to viewed favorably by a court at any level; it shows a lack of respect for due process and for the court."

Is Stein filing because of the bond fee? Maybe one part of it. My sense is that they will moonshot a fed suit based on hyperbole (remember, hyperbole really is her specialty) that centers around (1) the old 'washing-machine' ballot boxes; (2) complaints about county-specific recounting; (3) promises of testimony/affidavits of that loon Halderman and his cadre of nattering nabobs; (4) that she is owed a 'true count' of her votes wtf that means (same thing she trotted out in WI & MI); and (5) she will be 'damaged' if PA cert is allowed to go forward.

None of it adds up to much constitutionally, and there's literally no precedent. The only mild concern is that she's found, or been signaled to, a friendly court. The PA SOS has already cold-watered the recount; so even a friendly court would have a hell of a time validating any of those 5 theories.

Some irony due in this fed suit too as Schtein will likely turn on Cankles re: her int'l absentee ballot gains.

Now, all of this kooky kabuki is merely so Shrill can get invited to forums and CSPAN, etc etc, probably a book deal, etc etc. Fame (or even infamy) is a helluva drug for some people...

Based on Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s previous comment that there was no way Donald Trump should ever be president, it would be perfectly legitimate (and politically safe) to ignore any decision that comes from the USSC unless she recuses herself.

I agree with all you say, with the exception of your last point about Hillary.
While she hasn’t done anything to discourage this, I believe that this is over her pay grade and is controlled by Soros. Even Obama said the Federal Elections were fair.

and i will also say trump’s big mouth about rigged elections helped fuel this Shiite. DJT does need to grow up.

Tired of winning and moving on to whining? Concern trolls abound as they ignorantly send "advice" to the guy who did the impossible.

I think she wants to save face BUT NOT at expense of $1Mbond. Judge shop, even if U lose U can blame the courts AND KEEP the $1M . Contributors should make her spend the $ anyway in a class action suit. No refunds for you? No lake house for you!

If I am Trump there’s payback on this . I’d fire every Fed atty I can and replace 100% of Obama picks. Punch back twice as hard

I thought I read she collected over $6 million. If so, wouldn’t she have had the $1 million for PA?

If the courts allow this, then Trump was right and the system is rigged. And everyone can see it for their own.

So explain your post again?

She does have it . Rather not spend it. It’s a fund raising scam. When go to court A w/$1M fee go to court B for free. It’s a lake house thing like Bernie

I disagree, respectfully.
This isn’t about Trump’s big mouth as you put it.
Trump’s group undoubtedly will attack Soros and the whole globalist cabal
when he is inaugurated.
Soros knows what a Jeff Sessions led DOJ will do to him and his co conspirators.
Soros knows what a Jeff Sessions led DOJ will do to clean up massive voter fraud.
Soros knows what mad dog will do to his muzzie buddies.
Soros knows what Trump will do the Supreme Court.
Soros knows he’s dead meat. He’s a cornered rat.
Soros is anything but stupid, he knows it’s blood sport at this point whether Trump says anything or not.

Bada boom bada bing, the Constitution is a beautiful thing.

Yes it is!!!

The GP is just playing out their thin rope, ya'll. "For eleventy million dollars, we took our case to the courts." And accomplished nothing other than certifying President Trump did indeed win WI, MI, PA, and about 57 other states.

Yes, they are just raising money off of this and know full well the Fed Judge will throw their petition out. One other reason the Federal Courts will likely not intervene in her case is that she did not exhaust all her options at the state level. She pulled out of her Monday hearing before Pennsylvania's commonwealth court due to her failing to post a $1 million bond.

Federal Courts do not like to get involved in state issues where the petitioner has not exhausted all options within the state level to remedy their situation before seeking relief from Fedeal Courts.

Some precincts met the criteria for voter initiated recounts and are recounting (mainly in the Philly area). Is she going after the equal protection aspect? Some precincts recounting and others not?

But even in that case, how does she have any standing? The recount doesn’t affect her in any way as there’s no way she could win.
