Stein's recount headed to court Tuesday

Madison — Green Party Candidate Jill Stein will get a court hearing Tuesday afternoon in her effort to require all Wisconsin counties to recount the presidential votes by hand.

Also Tuesday, Stein and other supporters of a recall will have to come with the $3.5 million to pay for it to ensure it moves forward on Thursday. Stein, who drew more votes in Wisconsin than Democrat Hillary Clinton's losing margin in this state to Republican President-elect Donald Trump, criticized the cost of the recall Tuesday but said she would pay.

State officials initially estimated the cost of the recall at roughly $1 million but increased the amount after counties gave the state their own estimates of what it would cost in their jurisdictions.

"We stand by our commitment to verify that the vote in Wisconsin was accurate and secure and this exorbitant cost will not deter us. While this excessive fee places an undue burden on our efforts, we are committed to paying this cost in order to ensure that the voting in Wisconsin was accurate," she said in a statement.

If the judge is a Democrat, she gets whatever she wants.

Over the past 200 years, the candidates have been honorable enough not to abuse the system. Hillary is dishonorable.

The state would probably appeal an order for a hand count directly to the WI Supreme Court. Absent clear proof of fraud, the Wisconsin Supreme Court would probably overrule any lower court that ordered a hand count.

I'm assuming the recount isn't done by the deadline, and WI can't certify, so no WI electors get to vote.

I'm sure that is simply not true. The state legislature can certify the most recent count as the one that determines the electors.

The idea that someone could delay a state certification process in an election where the margin of victory is somewhere around 25,000 votes seems ludicrous on its face.

Hillary Clinton is hardly the first dishonorable person to bring a stench to our political process.

Yes, it’s fully clear now that she wants to delay the recount to the point that it cannot be completed by Dec. 13, thus throwing this to the state legislature.

It will go far higher if it becomes a hand counted process.

Yes, it will be higher and she will have to pony up the cost up front. She’s complaining about $3.5 million now.

I don’t understand how Jill Stalkinghorse Stein even has standing as there is absolutely zero chance that she could win Wisconsin’s electors for herself no matter how many new votes they find in their digital closets and the digital trunks of their cars.

She aint gonna cough up the money. She is going to court to cry foul. She loses while dragging things out, says she is not.paying for what she did not want and then pocket the money.
