Wisconsin could be at risk of missing a Dec. 13 deadline to certify its 10 electoral votes if clerks can't complete an expected recount by then.
Hitting the deadline could be particularly tricky if Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein is able to force the recount to be conducted by hand, Wisconsin's top election official said.
Stein who received just 1% of the vote in Wisconsin has promised to file for a recount by Friday's 5 p.m. deadline in Wisconsin. She is also planning to ask for recounts in Michigan and Pennsylvania, which have deadlines next week.
A federal "safe harbor" law requires states to complete presidential recounts within 35 days of the election to ensure their electoral votes are counted. This year, that's Dec. 13.
Stein is making her move for a recount as liberals raised fears about hacked voting machines. Election officials say they are unaware of any problem with Wisconsin's vote tally.
Republican Donald Trump edged out Democrat Hillary Clinton in Wisconsin, becoming the first GOP presidential candidate to win Wisconsin since 1984. Clinton lost by some 27,000 votes out of nearly 3 million cast.
Wisconsin law allows any candidate to seek a recount. The candidate has to pay if he or she lost by more than 0.25%.
Stein's campaign says it has raised more than $5 million this week for its recount efforts and estimates the Wisconsin recount will cost $1.1 million.
Meanwhile, independent candidate Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente said he formally asked for a recount on Friday. State election officials said they had not yet received the request from De La Fuente, who got 1,500 votes in the Nov. 8 election.

So what? even if he lost Wisconsin he would still win.. what am I missing here?
Stein isn’t concerned about vote fraud, she’s a closet HRC supporter. This is about trying to keep Trump out of the White House. Anyone with an IQ above 72 can see that.
next month she’ll be buying her new dream house, generously paid for by the clinton foundation
Would Stein have any standing? Doesn’t it have to be Hillary herself?
She’s going after two other states as well.
You missed your typo...you surely meant to type 27.It can happen to anybody! ;-)
The left uses issues like this for fundraising. She’s filling her coffers.
According to the article, anyone “with standing” and can pay for the recount can force it.
No, I meant 72.
The plan is to “find” enough votes to overturn Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
This is about trying to keep Trump out of the White House. Anyone with an IQ above 72 can see that.<<<<
She’s trying to prevent his innaguration.
Maybe that’s why the Birther issue is being reintroduced...to keep BARRY from continuing as president..counter move.
Since Stein was a candidate she can file on behalf of herself.
Now another candidate who got 1500 votes is requesting a recount. This whole thing is a sham they should deny the requests.
Just sayin'
I don't disagree with your sentiment, however Wisconsin law allows these challenges. A law that needs to be changed for sure.
Wow, there sure are a lot of people now who refuse to accept the outcome of an election. And a lot of people willing apparently to throw a lot of money away on their absurd beliefs.
Or maybe to prevent those states from submitting their certified counts due to recounts.
It's not about overturning the election (they know that's a lost cause). It's about sowing doubt in the minds of the democrat base in the legitimacy of the Trump presidency. I think what they are really hoping is the Board of Elections will tell them to go pound sand (recounts aren't automatic, even if they offer to pay for them). Then they can scream, "They're hiding something!". Of course if there is a recount and it shows no major discrepancies, then the argument will morph into, "Well a recount wouldn't detect voting machine fraud because it is just recounting the same fraudulent votes."
As I read it, anyone can request a recount if they submit the filing fee. Doesn’t mean it will be granted, but it can be requested.
