President-elect Donald Trump is expected to push to relax gun laws when he takes office, but significant changes in the firearms industry began as soon as he was elected and some put the law of unintended consequences squarely in the cross hairs.
For instance, while Trumps unapologetic pro-Second Amendment stance may be good for gun owners, it has already dealt a blow to manufacturers, who enjoyed record sales throughout President Obamas eight years in office. Stocks in companies like Smith & Wesson and Sturm, Ruger & Co. plunged on Nov. 9, and experts say it is because Trumps election erased fears that guns would become harder to get.
A lot of people were buying guns simply because they were worried Hillary Clintons regulations would make it more costly and more difficult to buy guns, and people are not going to feel quite the need to go out and buy guns now, Crime Prevention Research Center President John Lott told FoxNews.com. I think the stock market is a pretty good predictor of whats going to happen, and the fact that you see drops in stock prices by almost 20 percentage points I think thats pretty significant.

Thank God for Trump.
Will still be buying guns, just not at an insane rate.
So your’e sayin’ I can score a Ruger MKIV without waiting for the rush to pass?
I don’t look at it as a bad thing. I look at it as an equalization that brings down prices for what’s out there. There are definitely some companies that have taken advantage of the fear of losing guns and accessories.
Me too. The panic buying should stop and the supply of certain items and ammunition will become more available.
There’s Faux News again, looking for the cloud behind the silver lining.
I’ll have to buy an American-made gun or two this year to celebrate.
M.A.G.A.
Instead of many guns a year, I am looking at 1 really nice gun each year. For 2017, perhaps a SCAR.
On the other hand, if his Second Amendment platform is fully enacted, a new gun boom will leave the 0bama effect in the dust. Millions of people who weren't allowed to buy or carry will suddenly act on their right to do so. Then millions of them will start their own gun collections.
I have more guns than I probably need but not as many as I want...
I was thinking this exact thought while reading the article. If nationwide concealed carry went into law, think of all of the people who would buy a gun now that guns are no longer viewed as “evil”.
President elect Trump saved America from Hillary Clinton a communist that would have been the total destruction of the USA.
President Hillary Clinton would have flooded the USA with 3rd world immigrants, including millions of Muslim Syrians and other Muslims. FYI there are 7 billion people in the world most of them in poverty , 1.7 billion Muslims in poverty. This alone would have been the end of the USA and freedom. Plus Hillary is a hard core communist who would have imported all these 3rd world immigrants as voters for communism in the USA
This is just 1 point that shows we should be extremely thankful Trump beat Hillary and her allies the GOPe and democrats and the media and world establishment to save America
Trump also already stopped TPP(saved U.S. sovereignty) and many companies are saying they will make things in the USA again (Apple, Ford,HP, and many others already).
Ok these are just a few points . I know hundreds of others that show Trump saved America and that Trump will Make America Great again. Trump hasn't even taken office or had any power yet
I still feel a need to have plenty of ammo on hand till we get to Jan 21 a-ok
Maybe 5.56mm will actually be in stock again soon
Exactly I want one of those too and was just talking about it with a friend two days ago. But I did by a few nice ones during the OBuggery years.
“The law of unintended consequences” isn’t a valid descriptor here. No Trump voter is smacking his head and thinking, “why didn’t it occur to me that gun sales would taper off? Oh woe!”
Invest in shooting ranges. Reduced ammo prices will result in more target practice!
Let's say a challenge to the unconstitutional 1934 NFA Act is successful ... how will that effect your gun budget? I know it will effect mine ...
Can you say M240 (it would go good with my M53)...
Yet these people fail to tell us that scarce tax money would be better spent on fighting the culture of drug and alcohol abuse or improved domestic intervention or youth counselling initiatives and all sorts of other more worthwhile things that strike at the heart of crime and violence regardless of the weapon(s) used, as opposed to ineffective gun control.
I, too, think this will help many people out by encouraging price drops. I’ve had my eye on a couple of products, but they’re a little pricey still. Maybe I’ll be able to get them in the near future.
The above comment about a demand increase by universal CHP recognition, however, sounds reasonable, too, so I might have to wait a little longer. With any luck, there will be a sweet spot after prices go down but before a universal carry law gets passed.
Might be able to find .22 Ammo. Whoopie! (Not that I need more)
Found all kinds of .22 lr in Walmart yesterday.Good start.
Your spending for guns may get a rest but mine will increase. Ammo too. Thank God for Trump. He is America’s best decision since Reagan (maybe even better).
