Trump to scrap Nasa climate research in crackdown on ‘politicized science’

Donald Trump is poised to eliminate all climate change research conducted by Nasa as part of a crackdown on “politicized science”, his senior adviser on issues relating to the space agency has said.

Nasa’s Earth science division is set to be stripped of funding in favor of exploration of deep space, with the president-elect having set a goal during the campaign to explore the entire solar system by the end of the century.

This would mean the elimination of Nasa’s world-renowned research into temperature, ice, clouds and other climate phenomena. Nasa’s network of satellites provide a wealth of information on climate change, with the Earth science division’s budget set to grow to $2bn next year. By comparison, space exploration has been scaled back somewhat, with a proposed budget of $2.8bn in 2017.

Bob Walker, a senior Trump campaign adviser, said there was no need for Nasa to do what he has previously described as “politically correct environmental monitoring”.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Reaganaut.

I really feel that we’re on the cusp of a wonderful new era in America. One that will see our country restored, and made great again.

My Astronomy professor used to say...are the other habitable planets? Definitely Is their life on them? Probably not

And his guess was as good as any other.

Seems like a bad idea to me.

Data isn't (aren't) political and reliable climate data has lots of legitimate uses.

The answer to politicized science isn't to stop doing research, it's to make sure those interpreting the data are driven by the scientific method.

The more confident thing would be to say we're going to make sure the data is analyzed honestly. This makes it look like we don't like the answer so we're not going to ask the question any more.

Yay! President-Elect Trump can make all the conciliatory statements about climate change he wants (to lull the libs into complacency) as long as he initiates policies like this.

Returning to the moon in the next four years would require a Herculean effort
Then, I suppose we will need to apply that kind of effort... but what has been done once, or twice, gets easier each time it is invoked. And to be honest, our TEK is far better than THEIRS was... big time.

What we lack is will power and faith to engage the target at point blank range... as fear of failure looms large at the various moments of truth.

It takes a true viking to set off on the uncharted seas without a compass or a map... and one may not always return, but when it succeeds and new discovery and acquisition of new knowledge occurs... it is GLORIOUS... for all of humanity.

if God wills it, we will conceive that desire in our hearts... and that desire placed by the creator of all, to know him and relish in all that he does... will be granted... in due time.

if we don't give up.

"Constitutionally, the functions of NASA belong in the Defense Department."

You should plead the 5th on that issue since the Constitution says nothing about space exploration.

Otherwise, there is an aspect of fraud with repect to how the corrupt feds have sold NASA to taxpayers. That needs to be addressed imo.

After all, the Founding States gave the “power of the purse” to the House (1.7.1), ordinary voters having constitutional authority to elect representatives from the time that the Constitution was ratified.

NASA minimally has to go under the electron microscope with respect to NASA possibly paying $600 for things like a toilet seat that military contractors, for example, are alleged to have charged the feds; no accountability.

NASA has also been helping to unconstitutionally expand the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers as evidenced by its involvement in climate change politics, the feds having no constitutional authority to regulate, tax and spend for such an issue.

On the other hand, if NASA’s functions have a constitutionally justifiable place in the federal government, I’m sure that Trump will find it, even if the Constitution needs to be amended.

...Yehova... Try reading Peter’s epistles, and the Revelation’s last few chapters.

When MAN wrote down God's word, THE NEW WORLD was yet to be discovered.

Does that mean "we" (North and South America, all the native plants, animals, and the Indians) don't really exist?

You fail to explain the Louisiana purchase and Lewis and Clark expedition. Authorized by one of the authors of the constitution.

It is impossible to prove a negative in unlimited space. I could assert for example that there is no such thing as kryptonite. I could not however prove it scientifically.

The odds against a habitable place elsewhere in the universe are infinitesimally small

Also the Bible does not mention one. It doesn’t mention a lot here d things. But the details of creation and the focus of the narrative make it hard to believe there is another place for mankind to live.

I hope there is action behind the talk. The Left will go into conniptions over this - the GOP normally folds after the screeching, so we'll see if Trump is made of tougher stuff.

I used scripture completely in context with the subject at hand.

The word of Yehova makes it plain that there is no purpose for the universe but as a place for the home of the people for his name.

This is the foundational premise of creation.

No astronomy prof has the slightest idea whether there are any planets at all outside of our solar system. But they love to babble about their wishes, as though they were powerful enough to bring planets into existence.

The latter chapters of Revelation speak to the end of space-time itself. Our salvation is the provision at the day of Trumpets of a body that can exist outside of space-time. (that was the subject of Yeshua’s revelations to High Priest Nicodemus in John chapter 3)
.
