President-elect Donald Trump has selected former GOP presidential candidate and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson as the head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, a spokesman for Mr. Carson said.
The spokesman, Armstrong Williams, said Mr. Carson was offered the HUD secretary post and has accepted it.

Yes.
I think this is a great fit for Dr. Carson. He has the ability to spell out the root problems of an issue and to communicate it in a way that all can understand and comprehend. By putting people at ease by not coming across as a superior, he has an even better chance at changing the culture of HUD. As far as the Surgeon General position, his talents would’ve been wasted there. You could put a quick clinic LPN in there to do that job.

I heard somebody bragging about how her relative is the current Surgeon General.
Meanwhile, I was thinking that nobody knows his name or ANTHING that he’s done, then later saw it was purely a political appointment, like everything else Obama does.

yes. Dr. Carson’s message is one of hope and kindness. He is a great example and mentor in and of himself.
It's an interesting one. Dr. Carson was brought up in the inner city, and moved beyond the challenges before there was Affirmative Action. Perhaps an HUD head who is inspirational to residents is the only way to inspire people to take more responsibility for their own lives.
Add to that , who's really going to be in charge of decisions regarding construction?

Yes. I think Trump is very serious about revitalizing the inner cities and improving the lives of those who live there. Maybe Dr Carson feels the same.

He has also been involved in education and other causes. A brain surgeon can do more than one thing.
I think Dr. Carson has a real feel for the innercity. Surgeon General does nothing righteous as far as I am concerned. Please take a moment and visit his page for the scholarships he awards every year. Excellent choice for a christmas donation, also.
