At first blush, Donald Trumps decision to swear off criminal investigations of Hillary Clinton didnt look like a good idea.
At second blush, it looks like a terrible idea.
The decision, dribbled out in a TV report and then confirmed by aide Kellyanne Conway, is too momentous to come in bits and pieces and from anyone other than Trump directly. He made the pledge at a debate to appoint a special prosecutor, and it smacks of Washington-as-usual for the reversal to slither out the back door.
Yet instead of the president-elect personally explaining his big decision, the public got snippets of comments he made during an interview with the New York Times.
I dont want to hurt the Clintons, I really dont, the paper quoted him as saying. She went through a lot and suffered greatly in many different ways.
Asked whether he had ruled out a prosecution, he reportedly said, Its just not something that I feel very strongly about.

Trump cannot prosecute Hillary. The US Dept of Justice must handle that.

“He has also said many times that he wasnt going to broadcast his plans before executing them. He was referring to war, but it could also apply to the Clintons.”
“...before executing them.”
Plans or Clintons? ;-)
Kiss your troll ass good-bye
Congress doesn’t prosecute criminal cases. That’s the responsibility of the executive branch.
agree. Trump has to make it past the EC vote first, then he can be “Trump”.
I personally don’t care if he just tosses her aside. We have so much more to do and probably only have 2 yrs to do it.
Congress is still having hearings on the Clinton Foundation. Lets see what happens there first.
lol
I’m a dude, but thanks anyway for the gesture. ;)
If he is to be taken seriously regarding restoring the rule of law and draining the swamp, an investigation into ALL of the Clinton crimes MUST be conducted. He has to demonstrate that no one is above the law, and no one is too big to jail.
For now, I’m taking a wait and see attitude, he hasn’t even been sworn in yet, nor is any of his people in place with authority. This could be just media spin in an attempt to discourage his supporters.
Puppy? :)Thank you!
LOL ;-)
EXACTLY. Maybe even by agreement. Trump’s announcement that he wouldn’t press charges against Hillary makes an Obama pardon a moot point.
Now the various new outlets are trustworthy. Have we learned nothing yet?
I agree. Indict them all, including Bill and Chelsea, if it can be proven. Throw in Podesta, Mills, and Huma for good measure.
He didn’t. Presidents don’t prosecute anyone. We didn’t like it when Obama weaponized the justice department, then we should be delighted Trump is doing the opposite. Let the justice department do their job.
Why is the default position for so many is, he lied, he’s wimping out, he’s etc.
He has provided no evidence since June 2015 he would waver.
